It just blows me away they have never combined the apps together. I have 5 older indoor cams and was so excited for the battery outdoor cameras but I will not buy one until I can use every camera with the same app.

It's also strange that you cannot view the new ones on Android TV, like you can with the old ones—no, you have to buy a Hub or use the app. I'm hoping that Google remedies this in short order, but they do not have the greatest track record, here.

Totally agree. People should be aware: There are the new cameras, which support scrollable history, downloading clips, adjusting settings, getting motion notifications, and the ability to see a live view, but ONLY in the Home app. And then there are the older Nest cameras, in the homes of millions (included me) which are utterly useless through the Home app. You can see a live view, but that's quite literally all you can do. Everything else from history to notifications are handled by the older Nest app, meaning you need two apps on your phone if you already have anything old and then buy anything new....and there's no web app for the new ones.
It's absurd. Not buying any of their new stuff until they figure their shit out

You can see the old cameras in the Google home app, not sure but you might need to have migrated your nest account if you haven't already. Also as I understand it, Google is planning on shutting down the nest app this year, but the Google home app still has a ways to go before it has all the nest app features. I'm in the same boat as you though, I use the nest app and won't buy any of these new cameras until the Google home app has feature parity or they kill of the nest app.

So the home app does have nest features, but not for older cameras that have those features in the nest app. Holy shit, this is worse than I thought.

FYI: the 2pk outdoor cam only has one wire and charger for charging, you need to purchase an additional wire and charger from google for more than the difference in price between two and one. Buying two 1pks will save you money in the long run.

It's a scam that no one knows about and they dont even mention it in the description.

Totally bonkers. I also have a mix of old and new cams and frustrated that I have to use two apps

i found out the hard way!

Google Home app is crap, the old Nest app is much better.

Yeah. I'm pretty deep in the Nest ecosystem but am floored by the fact they don't have at least a browser version of Google Home. I don't understand what the hell they were thinking. I refuse to buy any of the new products due to this. Seriously think this is what's going to push me over to Ubiquiti's UniFi system, but everything is always sold out

I just upgraded to UniFi protect and it's amazing so far. Exactly the same functionality like the old nest app and no issues with data caps. I got my G4 cameras directly from Ubiquiti. I highly recommend https://uinotify.net/ for in-stock notifications!
