You need to look for motion control shoes.
These are neutral.
They're meant for normal arch feet.

These shoes also do not have the best cushioning.
This shoe starts to squeak after 30 miles of use. Skip.

What would you recommend looking for in a shoe currently for someone who has big and wide feet and stands 8-12 hour shifts ?

New balance fresh foam options, they have widths and this foam is amply plush. Another I see is the HOKA Bondi 7 (?) on various workers feet.

As the other poster noted, NB fresh foam 1080 v11 or Hoka Bondi 7 / Clifton 8. I have personally found Brooks ghost to be most comfortable.

For flat feet you would need to look at brooks adrenaline, ASICS gel kayano but they are support shoes so not the softest cushion.

For the same price or less, just get the Saucony Cohesion 14. Roomy and great for runs.

Can you recommend a pair for leisure running for somebody with mild knee arthritis? Same cushioned models like Hoka BONDI 7?

Go to fleet feet and do a custom fit insole along with the hoka bondi 7's. It's worth the money not to break your ankles. I'm in the same boat. Most hospitals and factory workers use these, or they do the brooks gel shoes on the cheaper end.

That's more of a glucosamine chondroitin issue than a shoe issue.
