There may be some truth in what you say. But what's the likelihood you'll find someone that is willing to buy something like a 2011 laptop? You'd probably say some stupid shit like eBay or Craiglist. How many folks are actually willing to post their decade old PC, wait however long it takes to find that one person looking for a ten year old laptop, and communicate and set everything to make the exchange?

Most of the time, I'd be happy to just find a recycling event that would take my aging pcs/laptops for free. BB is doing much more but offering you this in-store only 20% discount coupon.

Just traded in my defective mouse for the 20% coupon and bought a G915TKL wireless.
The senior supervisor was having a hard time finding the coupon, but a younger staff came along and found it within 30 seconds.
From the conversation I heard, they have to look in the "Trade in" category. Just in case if anyone is having trouble getting the coupon.

I had a Brand new bagger attachment for a Troybuilt lawn mower, and I was giving away for FREE via a post on a local Neighborhood board. I had no less than (5) people ask about it, show interest and never show up. I replied an average of 3x per person confirming my address and that I still had it. After 2 wks of this crap, I put it out with the trash. I feel like I lost money (time) on that deal. People are such flakes.

Were you trying to trade in a monitor? Usually they charge to take those since they're much more difficult to recycle.

I've actually taken to donating my old laptops to charities that perform slight upgrades and re-home these old computers. Most Laptops from the last 10 years are $30-40 away from being upgraded and being serviceable and these charities will perform these upgrades on donations and re-home the tech for use in places it's needed.
