If you don't have one of these yet and are already in with Makita - I'd say pick one up at this good price. I use my drill/hammer drill most, this multitool a close second, and everything else a distant third.

Thank you! Just purchased one right now for some Spring remodeling! A really great deal if you aren't looking for batteries to be included.

I actually got in on the last time Fasteners had their Makita Jigsaw on for sale $70 and my order arrived within four days.

The XMT04ZB is a big improvement over this previous model, but current price of $220 is excessive. It was $170 near Christmas. Has near class leading vibration control, and uses Starlock only (even plus and max), but uses a post/lever system for attachment of blades, when other starlock tools attach without a post.

This XMT03Z model is an average performer nowadays (quite an old design at this point), but still good quality and $70 is a good price if you already in the line. Has a similar lever/post system, but does not use Starlock blades because it predates that mounting system (which is a +/-). More vibration and less performance than the new model, but at a much lower price. No light on the front.

Any idea how this compares to Harbor Freight's new Bauer brushless multi-tool [harborfreight.com]? I bought one of those for $40 ($50 on sale, looks like that just ended, then add a charger and battery for additional $20 off applied to just the tool and returned the charger, so the $20 discount is "split" between the battery and tool. Actually you could return both the charger and battery for the full price thus get the tool for $30 if you wanted to do that..). It's still in the box so I could return it and get this Makita since I already have some Makita batteries..

Really need Makita or Bauer to release a cordless mini saw cut-out tool like Milwaukee has..
