I agree on skipping for those who are trying to upgrade.
Maybe cheaper for who don't have echo dot and looking for new one.

I mean...at this point, you might as well wait for a 5th gen dot, which will most likely pop up this year around Thanksgiving/Black Friday for certain.

Amazon has been bringing these things out almost yearly, and only stopped last year because of the pandemic. I personally kept all my 3rd gens, and plan to skip a gen each time. I never got any 4th gens.

So now im set to replace all my old 3rd gens with 5th gens when they drop. No point in replacing 6-10 devices to 4th gen, just to go to 5th gen in a few months. Even at $21 a pop, I don't see the value for me. The 3rd gens are just fine.

I would say, if you still have a 2nd gen sitting on your counter or nightstand, and you want something new, then grab a 4th gen. Otherwise, sit out this 4th gen and just wait for the 5th gen, which will almost certainly be here soon.

I think the 3rd gen performance is better than the 4th gen.

Normally better speaker. But i just keep adding them to different spots in my house. Love my alexa tap. Alexa show kind of a bust. One lady at work has an alexa refrigerator. Tells her what to order & can see what's in the fridge.

& really like my alexa auto.

Altho frustrating when an alexa alarm is going off & can't get it to stop.

Voice recognition is horrible on this. They contacted me and walked me through resetting it. I told them that, first of all, it shouldn't need a reset to fix something like that, but either way a day later it was back to being crap. Pissed the gf so much I had to swap the old one back in. Do not buy.

Yep, we call her the deaf slag. Switched to Google for alarms, only have to say stop, no name calling needed, to stop the alarm.

I don't see the 25% being taken off after creating a trade-in order. Must I ship my old echo before I will get the deal or am I doing something wrong?

Also, is it possible to trade in multiple old units and replace them with newer with this 25% off?

Better quality mics and speakers on most. I also notice that my gen 1 dot takes much longer to come back online after a network outage than my gen 3 dot. It's often a difference of 20-30min between the two.

I have German roots and say "Alexa! Halt!" which usually works, except when it doesn't and it hears "Help!" and then things get weird offering police and "If this is a life threatening situation..."
