Codes shouldn't expire. Getting 3 years before your current sub runs out should be no problem.

(All you need to do is wait for the expiration of your current sub and then follow the instructions to redeem the codes you purchased.)

LOL at disliking how keys work. Why? I am just explaining how to make sure that you have codes when your current sub expires. This is exactly what I am doing. I expire in early May. I am buying now so that I know I won't have any lapse.

Except these aren't generally wholly legitimate keys so when you go to use them later they may be already used or cancelled

If that were the case, the deal would not be highlighted on this and other sites repeatedly. CDKeys is a reliable source which has an excellent reputation. I have had zero issues with them in the years of buying loads of different keys. Games, subs, etc.

I think they do know people are doing this. MS wanted to increase the price of Xbox Live Gold, but the plan was canceled because of many negative feedbacks. I will not be surprised if they try something similar again.

Of course they know. I imagine they want to keep gaining market share. Then probably once they hit a certain target number of subscribers/active users, they will begin to cease this conversion. Probably going from a 1:1 conversion to a $:$ conversion. XBL Gold is $10 vs $15 GPU/month so they'll maybe just make the conversion the same as the price difference (3years XBL -> 2 years GPU).

The amount of ppl doing this is very low compared to all the casual players who just pay full price every month.
