This is the NVMe to buy for notebooks and external enclosures. Low power consumption and runs cooler than most all other drives available.

Great NVME drive at a great price, but when is that Platinum PCIe Gen 4 coming out? Gen 5 will be around the corner before we know it…

And not by a small margin either. The power efficiency and cool temps are far and away better than most other drives. The price just hasn't come down along with the others.

Still, for a mobile device or any small/tiny form factor uses, I haven't seen a cooler, lower power nvme so far, but admittedly I haven't looked in a few months.

No heat sink needed. Had one in my last build, and except for doing something like a malwarebytes scan, the drive never got very warm. Still remained well within tolerances witout a heatsink @100% sustained usage.

Has anyone seen an ultra low power demand, low therms nvme other than this one?

No. The best

It's definitely a good buy for desktop as a boot up drive and non gaming. I built my current desktop with it and boots up fast! I bought a 2gb SSD for gaming purpose.
Huh? It works great for gaming too. Not sure why that has to be said

i bought one of these to use in my Macbook pro 2015. After buying the connector adapter and making sure the firmware in the macbook and the ssd were up to date, it works perfectly.
Exactly what I'm using it with!!

Space limitation. 1tb is just not enough for those large pc games. Hence my comment any using a 2tb SSD.

That's why I still use tape drives. No data loss.

That said, just ordered one for my laptop. Very unlikely I'll ever have a power loss on a laptop.
If this is a concern to you, you should make sure that you don't have write caching disabled in your OS settings and that you're using a UPS (battery backup) on said computer.

I got two of these in my laptop. Fast and cool. I prefer these over the wd sn750 and sn550 in my desktop.

I have this drive in my ryzen 5 3600 system as my main drive. It's amazing. It's the fastest ssd I've had when it comes to 4k file sizes and that explains why load times are faster than the Samsung and crucial drives Ive also used. I still have those drives but they're extra storage drives.

Highly recommended. Reliable. No glitches. It just works. And this is a good price too

This is an excellent choice for desktop. It's really snappy. Over 3000mbps read writes and one of the fastest nvme drives when it comes to the 4k file size transfers and that really effects boot up times and software load up times.

Sorry, Data loss on the whole drive or on things you are working on currently like a normal platter drive?

From what I recall this was data that the dram cache accepted that doesn't get fully written out to the flash, because there's no capacitor that keeps it running. Seems like the drive's internal meta data (e.g. mapping offsets) are not affected, so I wouldn't think that the entire drive data is gone.

That being said, I have the 500GB and 1TB version of this drive in laptops, and they've been absolutely great. Low power consumption (great for laptops with undersized batteries) and plenty fast for the vast majority of people. So far no issues, though supposedly warranty service is non-existent (important only for those who care about actually being able to go through a warranty claim).

Is it worth replacing the 512 nvme off the Walmart Lenono Legion 5 Pro (the $1399 deal with the 3070) with the 1TB soley for a bigger drive for the OS?

I picked up the 2TB for secondary
