This stuff is usually about $12 a can. This is a nice, but I wouldn't buy it if you don't need it to save a few bucks down the road.
After last week's deals I have a jug of bondo putty and a collection of bondo spreaders. I have never used bondo in my life. Not sure what I'll do with them. Maybe set them up on an end table as a shrine to bondo.
At this point, my home's 75 year old redwood siding is more Bondo than wood.

I think Bondo's advantage is it's waterproof, so works better outside. Durham's will absorb water if outside, won't it?

Thanks for pointing that out, I never had the opportunity to use Durham outdoors. I have used it on a basement window sill that is often exposed to rain and wet paws. It has been a year and I haven't noticed any problems. However, after reading your post I will apply some paint before adhering some artificial grass carpet.

I've used Durham's in my cedar fence in areas where knots have popped out and left quarter size to golf ball sized holes. Once dried, I stained it. Durhams takes stain very well. I would have concerns using it in cases where it would be in contact with standing water, but on a wooden fence, it's holding up great through Texas thunderstorms and sun.

some reviews complain about the smell… looks like not a good idea for indoor use if you have kids or pets?

Can this be used for multiple application or is it just a onetime usage? Once open you have to use it all before it is useless? Thank you

Bondo you usually have to mix a hardener into it before you can actually use it, otherwise as long as you keep the lid on it it should stay good.

Wouldn't spackling be better for most indoor use, since it is easily sandable?

This isn't the Bondo you're used to. This is a two part catalyzed spackling paste/putty that 3M has decided to market under the iconic body-filler brand name.

I clicked through because I thought it was auto-body Bondo (the stuff we usually think of). Oddly, I think I may get a quart of this to test it for wood repairs I need to do, and to see how it sands out for modeling.
