How does this compare to Lodge? Their grill pans are a lot more expensive.

To add: how smooth is the finish? I know lodge is a bit rough and you can either sand it or just keep cooking in it over time which ends up taking a very long time to smooth out.

The finish is smoother making it nonstick faster with less seasonings sessions, have longer more usable handles, and feel like the corners are rounder making it easier to to clean. I have the 12" is really nice, keep in mind they have some weight.

Got two from the last sale a few weeks ago. Never had anything but Lodge before. They seem every bit as good and actually more convenient to use than Lodge. Can't go wrong either way.

I don't have the grill pan, but comparing it to lodge, I like it more. This is because the handles on the Victoria cast iron are longer, making it easier to handle. The Lodge's handle are too short and to me, that is a deal breaker. The surface of both are rough but improve over time with usage.

so what is the difference between the two other than one being larger and the other having ridges and being square. . Do the ridges serve a purpose other than leaving char marks on food

I got the Victoria 12" skillet a few weeks ago on a similar deal. Good quality, VERY heavy, and slightly less texture than my Lodge pans, so it seemed like it took fewer seasoning sessions to get a good coating.
