Target has slowly been diluting their promos. This was $50 off last year for a new credit line. You also used to be able to utilize their buy 3, get $10 or $15 gift card with purchase and have it shipped free by using their credit. Now you're required to go to the store or pay a delivery service.

They put you through so much to give up your bank account information just to decline the application. Maybe I'm a bit bothered by the apparent denial but this smells phishy.

Holy Moly / Data Point. After reading about many people getting a starting credit limit of like $300, I was a little bummed. I applied anyway and was approved for a $8k limit with MasterCard (825+ score and 1 credit card application in past 24 months).

I just applied online for the debit card, and I got the message that they will be "reviewing my application and getting back to me in 7 to 10 days."

Does this mean I was rejected?

There is no possible way I could have been rejected because my FICO score is 830 and I linked a checking account successfully.

But people on this thread are saying that if you receive this 7 to 10 days review message that you will be rejected.

Is there anybody on this thread who received that message but got approved in the in the mail in 7 to 10 days?

Not yet.

Update: received rejection letter today in mail.
reason: SSN already attached to existing Target Debit card account

But I closed it on 04/25. Not sure how long it takes to reflect after closing.

Received mine in the mail today and it was only ONE paper coupon with a barcode to be used either instore. It also has a unique promo for online use.

Not sure if this can be double dipped like in the past, so best strategy might be to take a picture of the coupon, use it instore first and then use it online the same day (if it allows it).

Take a photo.

There is no barcode to scan for online. There's only a redemption code.

There is no redemption code for in-store. Only a barcode to scan.
