Assume Puma 6 chip latency issues have been fixed with this model?

I switched to this one last month and had continuous problems. It had a hard time connecting with Xfinity, and when it did it was slower than my old SB6130. Sent it back and grabbed a netgear CM1100, which worked perfectly. More expensive, but no frustration.

I have the SBG6580 that had the Puma... in an original run... perhaps a revA? Mine has no such failure, and perhaps this model has similar differences.

I just bought a modem for my daughter and one for a friend. Both on xfinity.
I checked around and I decided to buy used.
I got a nice Motorola MB7621 that is rated well for $15. And a Motorola MT7711 (voice enabled) for $50.
The MT7711 is actually the model xfinity recommended to replace the Arris they were renting.
Both on FB Marketplace.

I did some research after I saw this deal today and couldn't find an authoritative answer. It appears a firmware update was issued to address the issue(s), but it was unclear to me whether it was independently confirmed to fully resolve them.

Also, it appeared the firmware update was rolled out only to ISPs to be provisioned by them. I don't have confidence that, say, Xfinity will do this - they seem quick to EOL modems and no doubt would you prefer you rent from them. The ARRIS support website shows no updates. Apparently firmware updates can't be provided to users directly, which is annoying.

So it's fairly easy to update the firmware for this. As a side note, best just get a used one. You can get a decent one for $30-40 dollars and lightly used

Great. How did you do it? Last I checked, I didn't see the firmware on the ARRIS website.
