had a previous modem go out over night and turned out to be power adapter which had an extra from backup modem.
oh snap! you can get a used 8200 for $45, cheaper then i got mine a couple of years back.

Cheap ass telcos getting that trash for free. Ain't no way anyone paying for that chipset.
Of course i read about the hardware fault of this model before i bought but i held the hope that the firmware fix corrected the issue, it turned out i had to replace it after tried.
