This deal has been around for a while; I recommend anyone in PSEG territory to actually order their EVSE from a third party and apply for the $500 rebate separately.
This is because in NY you can apply for a 50% rebate on your state taxes for EV charging equipment (including installation and yes, the cabling too). You are eligible for more if your initial purchase $$ is higher as like with most rebates and deductions, they do not consider rebates.
Has anyone bought the hardwire version? Been waiting for the 6-50 to get back in forever. Might just do hardwire if its just 3 wires like my Siemens one is.

I just installed a NEMA 14-50 outlet and waiting for the Tesla. What are the advantages of installing this box at home? Isn't this extra and not necessary in order to charge my car?

It's just easier to have one at home and not having to plug/unplug your mobile charger everyday.
Plus it looks great and tidy instead of the mobile charger all over the floor.
Never anything for folks in the South. Starting to hate it here.
seriously ?
I prefer paying $0.06/kwh for solar and wind generated electricity to power my EV and home rather than some higher rate to subsidize inflated equipment.

Anyone can have solar or wind, that has nothing to do with living in the south.
I'm just saying I wish we could get some incentives down here…. Some states offer tax credits for EVs, for example.

This means that the Juicebox would be $150 + tax on $650 - $350-ish tax credit = you make around $130?
Sadly, the 30% federal rebate is gone which had made this deal even more of a deal.
The tax credit is 50% of your cost, less costs paid for by grants. So if you're cost basis (less rebates) is $150, you're eligible for $75 credit. Total cost for you would be $75.

Edit: you're right, just found out the expiration was December 31 2021…. Man that's a bummer
