I regret buying my GCM12SD. I can't make it cut straight for the life of me. If I had to do it again, I'd buy a Kapex even though it is twice the cost.
It is a fantastic miter saw. It is not lightweight, cheap, compact, portable, etc. If you need any of those qualities, this isn't the saw for you.
The XPS system was amazing in its day, but really, I never used it or needed it, as it just wasn't bright enough. I tweaked the light for the 779 kit to make it brighter, but I still never really used it as it's accuracy would vary between things. Like a ¾" plywood, vs a 6x6 beam.
Personally, a Zero clearance fence and plate, go a lot further fir accuracy.
Add a good green laser onto it, and it increases it a lot, even in daytime, or in a really well lit shop/garage.
Plus, the Dewalt miters being ancient, have only gone downhill as Dewalt has made efforts to cheapen their tool costs, and increase profits. It's sad, but Dewalt has faded, and is now just a replica of the quality tool it once was.
So, I'd definitely go with the Bosch, or at least the Makita, before getting the Dewalt.

In the battle of 12in SCMS, they're all around the same weight. Where the Bosch requires less profile overall due to the design.
So what 12in SCMS saw should a person get to match those qualities you claim?
I have the zero g stand for it, which is amazing, but still overpriced. But that's how anything of quality is these days.
If weight is an issue, it might be best to buy one that fits in your purse. Lmao jk jk 😜 🤣

Get a cheap Ryobi or something that'll make you appreciate the Bosch later on. Lol. But if you are more intelligent than me, and don't like learning the hard way, then the Bosch is great. Especially if using in a home shop/studio.
