I have tons of Kobalt 24V as well as 40V products. The XTR lineup is definitely on par with DeWalt and Makita IMO. The Circular and drill/driver set especially is exceptional. I have no issues with Kobalt/Lowe's on warranty [lowes.com] and why I moved exclusively over to Kobalt. The key is proof of purchase for your tool. For battery tools, I can walk into a store and out with a replacement tool for 5 years. No dealing with the manufacturer after 90 days. Sure, the Return Desk personnel occasionally need to be reminded that Kobalt has 5 years for power tools and 3 years for battery in-store replacement. If they don't agree ask to speak to an ASM and they know.
The tip for receipts is to go into your lowes online account and set up to have all purchases emailed to you and input the cards you use at Lowe's and all purchases will automatically send you an electronic receipt. I then created a filter for those emails to Mark as Read and file in a folder specific to Lowe's. I also do the same with places like Home Depot. I used to do the MYLowe's card but constantly forgot so purchases weren't available electronically automatically like the email solution.
Just a note to others too because customers constantly get confused and think that all Kobalt products have a no-hassle lifetime warranty. That only applies to hand tools like shovels, hammers, and screwdrivers, and no receipt is needed for exchange if the tool says Kobalt. Shovels are the only handtool and a vise-grip are the only tools I've needed to replace over 20 years using the lifetime guarantee.

I have many Dewalt batteries so I'd prefer the Dewalt polisher. But this is substantially cheaper.

I would split it with you. I have most of the tools, but could use the batteries. It looks like they raised the retail prices on the tool as well. Polisher would be okay, but you can just convert a lot of variable speed angle grinders so they can work as a polisher.

The head definitely seems better design, but not a fan of the parallel battery terminal. I like being able to stand mind up on the battery.

I have too many batteries already but am a sucker for the tool / battery combo deals. I think the angle grinder is the last thing on the list I need or want, at least I hope so.

As a very long term user of Kobalt 24V tools and a heavily invested person -> Kobalt 24V tools are ok and maybe on par with Metabo and slightly better than Ryobi, Craftsman etc. But no brand is guaranteed not to break - and of all the tools I have - Kobalt/Lowes has the worst Warranty fulfillment. For Ex: you buy this combo with the Impact Wrench for $150 and 2 years down the road - the Impact breaks - and this is a Combo and Lowes doesn't or won't be selling the combo anymore - they will give you a $15-20 Lowes instore Merchandise and call it quits. So don't expect Lowes and/or Kobalt to replace Broken tools even if the Warranty has to be used in 4-6 months. Worst Warranty Support I have seen and is worse than even some of the horrible ones out there.

Ugh. I have read that contacting Kobalt Tool directly on Facebook may get one some better service on warranty issues, if I need it I plan on contacting them first there instead of going back to the store cold.
