I got a set of the black ones about 6 months ago and they have been problem-free. I work in IT and these have a surprising number of advanced features - much more than you get from the competitors.
I've used many other mesh systems including Velop, Orbi, Eero, and Google wifi. None of them can compare to the speeds and reliability that I've seen from the XT8's. Picking up another set for my parents house!

I switched to the Asus XT8 and couldn't be happier. It lets you split the SSIDs of your 2.4 and 5Ghz networks which makes life easier for people in my situation (and heavy IoT device users). I've also only had to reboot them once since buying them six months ago. Can't recommend these enough

1. The units loses connection on a regular basis. I don't know how many games I've lost because of this.
2. When I try to block internet access to a device via the app, it either takes a long time or doesn't work at all. With my old eero, it was instantaneous.
3. The computers in the guest network can't see each other. With my previous router, they could see each other, but not the main network. The only option I could find in the Asus settings is one that allows guest network to access the main network, which is utterly useless. If you enable it, your guest and main networks become the same subnet.
I had high hopes for this router because of my previous experience with a T-Mobile bended unit, but this unit needs a lot of work. I have had these for 5 months, and none of these issues have been fixed.
