I bought this just for single player. While not bad it has no sense of urgency or tension and your team's AI makes worse tactical choices than your average house plant. Sure multiplier is a different story though.
Movie was terrible, but the game is actually... fun. Myself, the wife, and a long-time internet friend have so far spent hundreds of hours on this game. Gameplay is extremely repetitive with very very few variations between playthroughs, dialogue is often goofy/dumb, but it's fun to mock, and there's not many other games that I'm aware of that has you taking on 100+ zombies at a single time, all rushing at you from various positions in a giant swarm and forming giant man-piles to reach you. There's nothing quite like unloading into a giant pile of dudes and watching them fall to your hot loads. There are 6 different classes to choose from (8 with expansion), progression/leveling in the game is done fairly quickly for the major upgrades, but for the super minor upgrades or to buy the super lackluster cosmetics, it's a very long grind.
PC/PS4/Xbox all offer crossplay, but I don't believe the Switch version offers it at the moment, despite what google might tell you. If you got friends on the Switch to roll with, could be worth playing. There was a paid DLC, Aftermath, that was released on all the other platforms, but I'm not seeing it in the Nintendo shop. That would've included 2 new campaigns, 2 new classes and gave you the option to play in first-person mode. There is a dlc in the Nintendo eshop, but it looks like it's mainly cosmetics.
