Couldn't you have just done that for a $ 900 credit, charged your purchases, and get points plus an extra year of warranty?
I used points one time for a hotel. It was Caesar's Palace. I was treated as a third class customer and given a mediocre room. View of the air conditioners. I had used extra points for an upgraded room. You are not considered a good customer. Since it was our 50th anniversary, I put up quite a stink. They finally upgraded us to a suite with 2 bathrooms.
After that I direct book my hotels and pay. I always get great service. My friend uses the points for airlines. That works well. By the way, after that, the Wynn hotel. Nothing beats the Wynn. Once I became a Wynn customer, I keep getting emails for great deals which include significant food credits.

For your hotel room, you probalby booked through the Chase portal and used your points to pay? (or similar) which is an OTA, hotels often treat OTA bookings "lesser" than bookings directly with them.
Better travel values are often had when transferring points to the respective program of that hotel/airline and booking.
However, someone can chime in if a way to book a Caesar's room through another program, IDK off the top of my head.
