Great price for a wide angle lens buuut this thing focuses like a turtle (slow) and it's very heavy. Front end would is hard to balance especially on a gimbal.
Lastly the front end is bulbous so no screw on filters only matte boxes or filters between the sensor and the lens as an FYI.
If none of those are a deal breaker this is a inexpensive wide angle lens that appears to made of good construction. Oh and it's definitely a bit soft on the edges as well.

I think quality wise, I rather get this for the flexibility. Isn't the 16mm F2.8 $299? For $100 more you get zoom. After reading the 16mm F2.8 RF review, I think IQ will be similar to this after the mount.
Sure, but the 16mm f2.8 weighs 165g and the Tokina weighs 940g. The 16mm f2.8 is the size and weight of the adapter alone. THe Tokina adds an extra 2 lbs and is pretty long. Plus, do you really need the zoom range if you have the 24-70? Just switch to that when you don't want wide. The benefit of the 16mm f2.8 is that you can always bring it along. If it's a big zoom, you'll leave it home a lot more often.
If you really want a zoom get the Tamron 17-35mm f2.8-4 OSD like I suggested above. Still have the f2.8 at the wide end, but the lens is much lighter and sharper than the Tokina. It's only 1lb lens instead of 2 like the Tokina. And you don't need the 28mm f2.8 end of the Tokina if you have the 24-70 because it's already covered.

My thoughts exactly when mentioning the rf 16mm. Works for me as i'm always at the wide end of a wide angle zoom anyway. Plan on picking one up once they hit the canon refurb store.
For astro, there are better options. The Samyang/rokinon 14mm 2.8 is a cheaper and better lens.
I have one of these and I loved shooting with it. Being able to stop down to 2.8 was great for astophotography and architectural shoots as well. Construction is rock solid. As the other commenter mentioned, it is a bit limited in it's range, the autofocus is slow and it is physically large/bulky as well. I got a new camera last year and want to sell this so feel free to DM me if you're interested lol
This would be a great lens for real estate photography. It's large size the biggest downside there, but it's quality glass and wide angles work well for photographing houses/rooms.
