This alternative for $21 [amazon.com] (yes, I know it's twice the price) has six buttons and is likely easier to use. Fakespot grade of "C"
Note that auto parts stores will usually scan the your code for free, though if your car won't start or just to save your time from going there, a tool like this can be well worth it.
P.S. My friend's car was occasionally sluggish and had engine lights on. My code reader said "Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (large leak)" and "Mass or Volume Air Flow A Circuit Range / Performance." Turns out she'd just lost her gas cap.
