Cordless, who wants to jack with an engine and feeding it fuel all the time. :-) I have started to move everything to cordless myself.
Paid 350 well spent, thing is a beast.
Ryobi cordless for sure

This or the ~$200 Harbor Freight gas powered?

Can someone please decide for me, so I don't have to?

Go electric and never have to worry about cleaning the carb again. And I think the ryobi bit is bigger?

I've been dragging my feet about ordering the Ryobi 18v router all day, but this was a good enough deal to justify an order. Thanks OP. The website is slow but the order did go through on the first try.

Wife just asked for auger bits to plant trees and shrubs. I think this may be over kill for that, but the price is tempting. I do have a few fence/arbor post i need to dig....

I bought the HF one a couple weeks ago and am glad I haven't taken it out of the box yet since I will return. The Ryobi produces more torque and has an anti-kickback system that reviews rave about. Another thing to note is this comes with a 8" diameter bit while the HF comes with a 6" so if you need only one or the other, that might help you make a decision as new augers will be another $80-100+. My biggest concern is finding extensions for the Ryobi as they do not make any themselves and there are mixed comments on whether or not other brands fit. It was a tough decision when the Ryobi was twice the price, but seems like a no brainer at the same price.

It's nice but for my needs like planting bulbs, my handheld drill with the auger attachment should suffice. This would be overkill. I mean it gets the job done though Smilie

Maybe just my area but I had trouble digging posts with a 200 ft lb torque , 190cc unit. Not sure how this can dig posts; maybe areas where it's 100% clean soil? Would love a replacement for my gas unit but need at least that torque.

They are scraping the bottom of the barrel, (after the 50% off sale) with the delivered refurb stuff. I got a string trimmer that the box looked like it was run over by a forklift. I up the box and the trimmer was broken. Buy from an actual store. Several other people had their orders for larger batteries canceled, because they oversold.

I'm in extremely rocky soil (glacial melt). How has this held up in rocky soil? I have rocks of all sizes on my property.
