I've used it for several projects and have quite a bit of experience with this. This is not for everyone and not for every project. There is a lot of prep and cleanup that is required, it also uses a lot more paint than rolling. Cleanup and prep usually takes twice as long as painting, but the reason I went with it is because the end result is a lot better.

Examples of projects I've used it for:
- Painting tongue and groove ceiling
- A couple empty rooms with no trim or baseboards
- 400 linear feet of base board before installing
- 15 doors
- Home exterior

If you are just looking for a quick way to paint and existing bedroom or bathroom, this will not save you time or money and will just make it take longer and be more expensive. Like everything tool related, use the right tool for the right job.

If they weren't so much more expensive I would love to get a small hand held one. Which would be great for smaller projects. Like if you just need to do one door or paint a piece of furniture.
prep is a ton of work. make sure you're wearing a proper mask if spraying indoors. i once didn't and got high as a kite. i honestly prefer rolling for indoor. less cleaning and easier prep
I bought one to use for a large outdoor project a few years ago. Decided to try it in a room inside the house last winter. In the end, we decided it took longer to tape off everything such as the crown, all the windows, fans, lights, vents, etc then it took to actually paint the room using a roller.

My guess was it took twice as long to paint the room with the sprayer once you figured in the time spent taping that you would not have had to tape if you rolled.

The outside project though, it saved days.

Look at the options, shows that price without hose or tip. Don't know if other options are extras or essentials

Did you have to mask and cover the ceiling and windows? Does it take a lot of time to prep the area before spraying? I just picked one up and trying to brainstorm use cases.

Got one of these to do an entire 2BR interior repaint. It's about scale too I think.

Yes, there is a lot of prep work involved with taping and buying a ton of plastic sheets to protect stuff you don't want covered. It might even take the same amount of time rolling vs spraying.

What you don't get is the same paint consistency, and none of the rolling 'marks', but then again you can also spray inconsistently and leave spray 'streaks' where if you don't spray enough or do your overlapping well enough it leaves like a zebra pattern.

It was fun to also use at the end of the day. I could see myself spraying again if needed. I would probably use the smaller hand held ones more, but they are in the same price range as this. If you need to do a lot of 'small' projects with an sprayer, I suggest trying to batch them up for the same day. You gotta purge a lot of paint using and cleaning these types of tools.

What I will add is that if you get this for any amount of work that isn't like cabinets that you can spin around, or move around easily, YOU NEED A 2+ ft wand to go with it. It will allow you do do ceilings or reach corners of rooms to keep the spray consistent.

These really aren't ideal for spraying walls, in my opinion. This is what you want to use for trim, furniture, cabinets and doors.

I've used mine to paint ceiling tiles, trim, doors, entire basement walls and wainscoting, and the exterior of my house.
Prep is a ton of work. We had a small natural disaster that left us carpetless so the basement was a good paint booth during the reno.
Highly recommend using masking tape with plastic sheeting attached

Lol. Some of these replies are hilarious. I can mask and prep a room in less than half an hour with a masking gun and shoot first coat in 10 minutes. It me longer to pick up my drop cloths and rinse out the airless.
