No HDMI, you plug in external Monsignor through usb c. The Z17 has an HDMI port.

I'm seeing the Z16P at $2,800. Not sure how the sale price can get anywhere close to this $1,160 deal

What's gimped about it? Was thinking of grabbing this to game.
Limited to 65W for power on the GPU. Most "gaming" GPU's should be between 80W-115W for good performance in most games these days.

It's not really an issue with this version. However the later version is more improved IMO, Z16P has full layout keyboard, larger mouse Pad etc. Or add little more to get the Z17 if you need hdmi port. Morel likely a laptop for creator than gamer so may be good to watch video, represent to client with touch screen or play some light game. $1200 probably a good deal for it.

It's supposed to be a productivity laptop but gaming craze is all encompassing these days.

damn mousepad and numberpad do look better but after looking at the starting prices for the cheapest z16p, i feel like the price will never drop to around $1200

Unfortunately, most manufacturers put a sticker or something similar over a screw or area on the bottom of the laptop that says opening it voids the warranty. It's not like the old days, of a couple of years ago.🙄 I think it's ridiculous to void a warranty because you make an upgrade. You certainly don't want to upgrade anything during the return period of the laptop too, as many stores have a policy that if you open it you bought it. I'm not sure about COSTCO, which would be my first choice of where to buy anything.
Those stickers are non-enforceable, FYI.

I've been buying MSI GS laptops for 7+ years... and the first few years were ROUGH with regards to quality... MSI didn't care, ever, that I opened the laptop up and "voided" my warranty by upgrading my RAM, SSD, etc... heck just last year I had to RMA a laptop to them and they still didn't care that I punched through the void sticker to upgrade RAM/SSD. I think if you go in and break the motherboard or cause internal issues and try to RMA it... that's where they will deny your warranty claim.

technically it does not void the warranty. But in reality, you'd have to fight with them and get FTC invoived.
The manufacturer have to proof why removing the screw caused the damage, which is almost impossible to proof.
