You would need to spray fire paint end of every season to keep it like new.

These are 1-year fire pits in the humid regions. Not a bad price, but this year decided to upgrade to save the hassle of replacing yearly despite the good price

Don't forget to put a layer of sand in the bottom before using. Try to keep the hot coals away from the walls too and the paint will last longer.

Biggest thing to make these last is clean them out after every fire. Wet ash rots these out quick.

Own this...it's pretty good but it would have been nice to have handles. I made my own out of wire hanger.

What does the sand do?

I have 6 or 7 years on my cheap outdoor fire pit. I never remove the ash. I leave it, it washes out or blows away. But it leaves insulation for the fire from the bottom for metal.

Idk. There's surface rust on the walls etc but there's no indication of failing out the bottom.

Insulates the bottom so the coals don't burn through the paint. If you're going to leave it outside between burns a cover is a good investment too.

What are some things to look for in an upgrade? Seems like these are all about the same, unless you're talking solo stove?
