Bought the 65" one during last black Friday and all HDMI ports are already broken/defected.

These have been sitting on the ocean on container ships for months and months and months during the supply chain cargo container issues we had for the last year and the salt in the air corrodes all of the cheap reactive metals that make up the HDMI Port connectors and most of the other connectors that are made out of sheet metals that corrode extremely fast with the high salt concentration in the air which they were exposed to for months and months and months on end. Most electronics that were sitting in cargo container ships on the ocean are ticking time bombs for the future and problems you will have due to corrosion of micro metal connections.

Wouldn't multiple layers of packaging defeat this?

Aren't these in boxes and stacked on pallets and then wrapped in layers and layers of plastic wrap which minimizes air penetration. And then put inside a metal storage container which is not airtight, but does not have much airflow. And then these containers are stacked high and packed tightly against each other which minimizes airflow around them.

It's not like they were open on the ships deck being sprayed by sea water

All true but that doesn't sound nearly as dramatic. Have to work on your sensationalism game some 😂

I bought the 65 for 299 a few months back. My TV has given me no problems. I think it's a fantastic bargain. 4k looks great. Games look great ect. Boot up time is very fast and Roku is quit excellent. No regrets.
Yeah, bought that same one on a whim and so far happy with it.

Just buy it on a credit card that doubles the warranty

Damnit, just did the 65" TCL for $398 at Walmart a week ago and already got rid of the packaging... Great deal!
See if you can get an extended warranty on it. There are currently hundreds of cargo containers building up around China's Shanghai region, and it's expected to be worse vacillations in supply/demand chains, than previously experienced.

This sounds like some really educated chemical analysis. OR some really dumb "5G is in your toast." I think I'm gonna go with the second one
There's truth in the statement. Depending on how long they have been sitting in the containers, there is a possibility of oxidation forming on the joints unless they were sprayed with conformal coating/ potted to protect the joints. Not likely since that is usually reserved for products that have to pass either corrosion and /or water proofing requirements. So depending on the actual conditions and amount of time they were exposed to those conditions, yes there's a legit potential that these can prematurely fail

In theory it should yes however, that's under average or that is to say more normal conditions traveling back and forth. These didn't make that journey… they just sat and sat for many months so the materials and packaging they used aren't equipped to sustain that.
