I've listened to both side by side. Motion+ has fantastic clarity especially with voice and acoustic music, and plenty of bass. The Boom has more bass with a slightly fuller sound, but much less clarity to my ears. Kept the Motion+ and returned the Boom.
That's pretty similar to my thoughts. The Motion+ has more clarity and you can hear everything distinctly. The Motion Boom is a bassier, warm sound. Custom EQ makes them both sound 10x better. I think the Motion Boom is probably the better choice for most people or if you value portability and playing music outside more often, but I probably like the Motion+ better personally. Both great though, and both can pair 2 in stereo (just not Boom to plus, they have to match like boom with boom).

How does the sound compare to HomePod mini? I don't need / care for portability; just want the best sounding speaker for ~$100 that I can keep in my living room.

Is it better than jbl charge 3?
The Motion+ is a decent BT speaker that sounds OK and has a good max volume. Mine stays in the garage. If you prefer sound quality over max volume, stick with the JBL Charge series. I've spent hours comparing the Motion+ to the Charge 2+, 3 and 4. I also compared the Motion+ to a few UE speakers and they're a little closer when it comes to sound quality.

Got my Motion Boom today and I'm blown away by the sound quality for under $100. Playing side by side my Bose Soundlink III and it's not far off. Love the size, handle, and the app is nice and to customize the EQ. Quality appears solid but time will tell.

I think that's exactly what it means. Of course to really determine this, we'd have to all agree on the definition of what a "deal" is in the first place. I can try and take a pass..

Deal does not mean "less than regular price" (with regular being the price point thats most representative of the majority of a products availability. "Deal" (at least to me) is a noteworthy departure in the regular PATTERN of a products pricing. Pattern is key here, because it also takes into account recurring and predictable price dips.

So if something constantly fluctates between 100 and 80 dollars, is it a deal when its 80? I'd say no, deal =/ cheaper, deal == noteworthy fluctuation from regular pricing patterns.

TLDR, imo, if it's not "exciting", it actually isn't a deal.

Problem is "Slick"deals last 5-7 years as they've been building for profit/scale has whored the top of funnel w/ products that aren't deals to monetize, which has had a cultural effect on members since that have joined since that time to incorrectly perceive that things like these are actually deals (definitely not SLICK deals).

Also, if you actually need an item that's listed here, that doesn't recursively make it a "deal". That logic makes no sense.
Perfectly stated IMO and I concur.

Got to customize your eq for best effect. The standard eq settings sound not so great.

Disagree heavily with this. I only found the Charges to be better at lower volume, and with custom EQ on Soundcore, I like the Soundcore much better.

I don't know where there are so many people that are bothered by the 'deals' posted. I have bought many things that people complain are 'not a deal'. I am very happy with my purchase because it is something that I didn't know I needed but ended up being very useful in my life, and although the price fluctuates, I was able to get it at the lower end of the fluctuation.

Why is it so hard for people to ignore something if it is not something they are interested in at the moment? They have to now go on about the 'big bad slick deal Gods'. You know what, slick deals save me so much money in my life, I can afford to live a relatively comfortable life, because I am able to retain more of my earning. Slickdeals has tremendously contributed to my financial standing.

I'm the guy who owns a Porsche because of my savings from slick deals. And because I DIY, this weekend, I spent $500 on a tune up on my Porsche that everyone else with the same car, just plops down $4,500 at the dealer. I should not have this car with my salary and my family, but I'm cheap, and slick deals contribute to my paycheck.
I think thats a perfectly alternative definition of a "deal". My post was more taking into account the history of Slickdeals specfically, and even the origin of the name "slickdeals". I'm right there w/ you where I buy of ton of cool shit i dont need or maybe even actually want. The benefit to us as consumers is for us to decide, and when we spend our money, that's the proof.

However, that wasn't the context of the conversation in this particular thread. The initial comment was "is this deal exciting?" or something to that effect. My post was to quantify and measure the definition of "exciting", and the argument I posted there was that not everything that is lower than it's typical price point is "exciting" by merit of it being cheaper, or even by merit of a lot of people buying it, but a more tactical definition taking into account a historic view of a products pricing patterns vs. irregularities in pricing that used to be the bar for what was considered "slick".

compares close to W-King, there are a lot of choices and deals. I got the 30W one cheap. You can get the 50W of it for less. https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-B...07WNZS2FR/

I have the Soundcore Motion+ and the W-King D8. For sound quality in my opinion the Motion+ wins, but only slightly. If I were sitting in my living room with the speaker beside me, I'd probably choose the Motion+. However, the D8 is a beast compared to the Motion+ while still having balanced sound that is not overwhelmed by its excellent bass. The longer I have my D8 (about 2 years) the more I love it, not just for its booming bass power, but for its pleasant sound. D8 is a very enjoyable speaker even when not blasting. If I could only have one of these, I'd pick the D8 without hesitation.

I have this speaker from years ago (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&th=1)
but I need to replace the battery for about $40. Is it better to just get this newer speaker?

I purchased 2 of the Motion + and 2 of the Motion Boom. I had to get stereo experience and take my audio somewhat seriously. I kept the Motion + as they are high fidelity. Well balanced at all volumes. The only thing I dislike is the Bluetooth is spotty in Stereo Mode. I also have Minirigs and Earfun Go Stereo as well. Motion + is a go.

I don't disagree with the claims about sound quality and bang for buck. But have a serious dislike of the all blacked out buttons. I can't see them in anything less than direct sunlight. The two second delay with no feedback when pressing the power button to turn it on or off also irks me every time i use it.
