I personally would say that WD has a much lower DOA expectation than Seagate. I bought this exact drive from another retailer before this sale and it was DOA. I've just had too many issues with Seagate lately with drive failures and DOA on new ones to buy another.

I feel like this message was posted somewhere else and "WD" was switched for "Seagate". My point is too many threads say Seagate has more DOA drives and just as many say WD has more DOA drives. Toshiba next?

For the record, I have 4 of these in my unraid box. I'm on my 4th warranty claim due to failed drives in less than a year.

I'll be looking elsewhere if i need additional storage.

This is a helpful comment, you steered me away from buying. Real-world user w /hands-on knowledge of this exact product. Seeing as this isn't what I want, what would you recommend for a TrueNas Raid5 setup using 4 18TB?

As a counter-point, I have 10 of these drives in an Unraid with 8788 Power-on Hours (1y, 1d, 4h)... no issues (yet!).

are these shock/drop proof ? I was wondering to use this as a storage drive for photo and videos with a USB 3.0 or USB-c enclosure

It is a very tight space, this is a Chenbro NR12000 1U rack unit and the fans are 40mm i think. They are crazy unbearably loud when it posts but after it gets into the OS it's surprisingly quiet. I keep it laying on a desk by itself because i dont have a server rack enclosure

Lowest drive temp is 35c highest drive is 42c

For those of you that have had these drives fail (and even those that didn't). Did any of you run the badblocks burn-in test? If it passes the test that is usually a good indicator that the drive isn't going to die out at least in the 1st year of service.

I have six of them. The one that was sold by a third party is accumulating bad blocks and isn't eligible for Seagate warranty. The other five have zero bad blocks and have a valid warranty.
