There appears to be some confusion of whether this new version has four white lights, or the three white and one red as they have always had. From the picture, that top led appears to be the red one, but is on the bottom of those we have, so who knows? There is no high and low with the white and red led version. First click is white and second click is red. Click again and off. Perhaps the red was replaced with white for their now low and high version.
Meanwhile, the one red led version we have on four of these is great for hunting night crawlers and such. The trouble is, the first click turns on the white that absolutely messes with your night vision. So, I try to remember to hold the light head to my body while I click twice to the red light. I use these lights with a 5amp battery as a stand most every day and unless on for hours, charge up maybe once a month. When the power is out or otherwise in a dark room, rotate the head up to shine on ceiling.
=============
If they in fact removed the red led and now all white led's that compare to the similar all white led Ryobi just purchased from the recent Direct Tools deal with more lumens, the DeWalt that was already pricey, is now way overpriced. In fact, the pricing of all DeWalt and Milwaukee lights is how we got started with Ryobi.

Update: I was wrong. The Type1 of the dcl043 has less Lumens but has the red led as the low beam and came with a belt clip in a plastic blister pack. Type 2 comes in cardboard box, no belt clip included, no red light, and is 1500 Lumens.

The one with red light is knock off- Dewalt doesn't and hasn't made one with a red light. The Dewalt also switches between high, low, and off each time you pull the trigger. The Dewalt also has a mor durable and rugged housing around it. The pic that slickdeals loaded is of the knock off. Op's link is to genuine Dewalt sold and shipped from Amazon. I have three of the Dewalts and the work great. The price is the lowest I have seen in awhile.

Well, that is simply not true.
ALL of the DCL043's sold by all distributors, all had the red led light and described as same from the DeWalt website. We still have two that are new in their clam shell packaging from Lowes and our DeWalt service center down the road still has red LED replacements.
A few years ago, the all white ones were claimed to be knockoffs, but most, if not all were actually DeWalt sold and shipped from Canada and elsewhere. They looked identical except for missing the one red LED. We are heavily into DeWalt and what I have been noticing is that they slowly cheapen their quality tools with a solid reputation like their flagship 780 miter saw, this flashlight, etc. Still decent tools, but not what they were.
I bought several if these DCL043's (Type 2) for around $40, (less than a year ago) and none came with a red light. They are great lights! You can use them to boil steel on high though. Lol. So be warned, they get hot. (And their IP54 rating is Bull 💩 . So keep them really dry, and as dust free as possible.)
All came with 4 white LED's. All were light. And it is a legit Dewalt as I registered them to Dewalts site without issue. If you ever want to see if it's a knockoff, register the tool. (You SHOULD register all your tools, from all brands.) It will not allow a fake tool to be registered as it has a production/serial number that identifies it.)
The type 1 came with 3 LEDs in white, and one in red.
Dewalt obviously moved on to a better type 2 (one of the few times they've made a tool actually better.)

My bad, and my apologies! I had never seen the type 1 light vs type 2- only known about the type 2 with the knock offs having the red light.
I have the Type 1 of this light and Love It as I usually us it for hunting. The red light is excellent for maintaining night vision and the white LEDs make an excellent spot light. I left my light in the woods for a week or so (set it down and forgot it) it got rained on, and run over by a small tractor and it still works like a charm.
I had one of the originals with the red light. Did not want of need the Red light and would have rather had the white light with 2-3 dimming options. Once I got hold of the Ryobi Spotlight I sold the Dewalt as the Ryobi was so much brighter AND the Dewalt light IMO was too focused where the Ryobi is more of a flood light as far as beam throwing which I like better. I eventually ended up with 3-4 of the Ryobi's and keep one in the garage, one in my truck, one by the front door of my home and one for usage as a security guard. I do have the Dewalt led tilting lamp for any tool related fixes with my Dewalt cordless however. I'm am glad Dewalt listened to the buyers and eventually traded the red light for a lower dimming white light.

Type 1 had red light.
Type 2 no red light, and is better overall.
