"Only" is subjective. We both work fully remote, so we fill up maybe once a month. It's worth it for us because we don't just use Sam's for gas, but it's a harder sell now that Sam's makes us pay $100 for a Plus membership for free pickup when we're already getting that and cheap gas at BJs without the up-charge.

Fair, but "driving a lot" was both subjective and vague - that's why I put the number out there so that people can see what you consider a lot.

BTW, I consider myself lucky to still have full time WFH status for my household, but recognize that most people are not in the same boat.

Let me share my own experience. So, I always check Auto-renew option on Sam's Club membership menu BUT I never add a payment method. On the date of renewal, it renews my membership automatically at free of cost. This is happening for the last two years. You can give this a try.

Groupon has a deal but Costco memberships will never have the same deals as sam's memberships have all the time such as the one in this post and the Groupon one

What if I saved a credit card in my account for online purchases or for Scan & Go purchases for the past 11 months, but just now deleted it online from my Sam's Club account settings? Will their system somehow still be able to find it and charge me the $45 renewal fee?

I remove my any saved payment method on sams club account settings before renewal date. They cannot find your previous card details. As far I remember if you have auto renewal option turned on with a saved card, then it won't allow you to remove the card. In order to remove the card, you have to uncheck auto renew and remove the card detail. Then turn the auto renew option back on. As soon as your membership renews you can add the card again. It wont charge $45.

You need a new email address no matter how long ago your old account has expired. It says sign on to the old account if you use that, so you can't use this offer. Just create a new email address.

If you have a gmail account you don't need a "new" email. Just add a plus sign and something to make it unique like "[email protected]". Sams will see it as a new one and gmail will just forward it to your normal inbox.
