I bought a 24" deep version of this shelf in 2020, and within a couple of months the particleboard shelves were sagging. Kept in a dry basement and not a ton of weight on them.

They're still in use and haven't gotten much worse, but just something to be aware of.

Are these the same that are being recalled?

This rack is in fact manufactured by Edsal company that is included in the recall. However, the recall notice says this

"…. Sold At:
Lowe's Stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com, Staples.com, Walmart.com and other online retailers from January 2015 through September 2020 for between $80 and $90."

Can Walmart still sell the units even if they are on the recall list? Also, the recalled units were sold until 2020. I couldn't find the model # on Walmart.com for the item in OP.

I ordered back in March. The rack is very poorly packaged. It arrived with huge holes in the box, scratched and dented metal beams, and the particle board corners were broken off. Walmart return system is abysmal and did not schedule the pickup like they should have. I had to call Fed-Ex 4 times before they would pick it up. It weighs about 80lbs so I wasn't going to lug that into Walmart to return it. Huge hassle.

Dang that sucks. Mine came perfect. Regarding returns, I ordered other racks to compare, and had them picked up via FedEx at my house the next day.

.
What I thought happened, was the earlier versions were rated at 800lb per shelf and some people found out that was not true. And yet, the Muscle Rack is still claiming same.

This is absolute nonsense:
Quote :
The unit holds up to 4,000 lbs in total weight or 800 lbs on each individual shelf
I would like to see the CEO lay down and put his/her head on the bottom shelf with just 800 lbs on the next 3/8" particle board shelf above. 4,000 lbs total is a lot of weight. We have changed almost all out with 3/4" plywood with a 2x4 anchored flat behind the front shelf lip and still would not load a shelf with 800 lbs.

I bought the Sam's Club 48" about 6 months ago, assembly was not that great since every time a rail is secured, the other side pops off. I would suggest checking the rails multiple times to make sure it is secured.
