Vinyl LP pressing including digital download. The Best of Sam Cooke is the second greatest hits album by singer-songwriter Sam Cooke. Produced by Hugo & Luigi, the album was released in 1962 in the United States by RCA Victor. The compilation contains most of Sam Cooke's most well-known hits from 1957 to 1962. Sam Cooke was an American singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur. Influential as both a singer and composer, he is commonly known as the King of Soul for his distinctive vocals and importance within popular music. He began singing as a child and joined The Soul Stirrers before moving to a solo career where he scored a string of hit songs

So this has 13 Sam Cooke songs, at $1.07 a song.

According to Wikipedia, here was a critical take on the compilation:

Meanwhile, the recommended compilation, Portrait of a Legend, has 30 songs, for the price of $26.99 on Amazon and Best Buy, for the rate of $0.89 per song.

I see no reason to buy this when the other superior compilation exists at a better value.
No, A Change Is Gonna Come?
Well good thing it's his music that's for sale. 🙄😒

He was a civil rights activist, which means he fought for rights you're enjoying this very minute. You're welcome. And songs like Chain Gang and A Change is Gonna Come gave voice and continue to bring awareness and relevance to oppressive forces faced by millions in this country. Not bad for a mere 30 some odd years on this rock.

How you livin? How have you changed the world?

One of the classic singers of all time, influencing soul, blues, and rock across the board. Good deal. No turntable in my house since 1987, though.

So this has 13 Sam Cooke songs, at $1.07 a song.

According to Wikipedia, here was a critical take on the compilation:
Quote :
In Blender, Robert Christgau was more critical, giving it one star and recommending listeners overlook the album in favor of the 30-song compilation Portrait of a Legend: 1951–1964.[5]
Meanwhile, the recommended compilation, Portrait of a Legend, has 30 songs, for the price of $26.99 on Amazon and Best Buy, for the rate of $0.89 per song.

I see no reason to buy this when the other superior compilation exists at a better value.

100% agree. I own the "portrait of a legend" and it is far superior to what I see in this collection
