Wen you need it, it's there. Wen you want it - we got it. Wen your sad, we are here for you. Wen your power company lets you down - we give you the power back! Don't ask why, ask wen!
These things have about 20-25% THD according to the manufacturer. How worried should I be it would damage appliances if I run it temporarily in emergencies? I know there are no guarantees in life except death and taxes, just curious what y'all's feedback/experience is.

Sportsman and WEN are about the same build quality and noise, but cater to different markets so have slightly different feature sets. IMO the WEN is the better overall deal with the electric start, wheel kit, and a little more power for $65, but the Sportsman has more standard outlets that may be easier to work (non-GFCI) and an RV outlet. If you want to keep a single freezer or heater running during an emergency, the WEN. If you want to hook up a whole bunch of work lights or tools (or an RV) away from home, the Sportsman.
Thanks I really apricate your help! You are so awesome!
How low would a safe THD be? What would you recommend?
I would say less than 3%.... less is better....just look for inverter generator. I just picked up an 4500 igen from Westinghouse for $700 last week. Sams has 2500 for around this deals price but no 220v on those or the one I bought.
On a generator during a mass power outage? Won't they have better things to worry about?
I get if you were just using it regularly on a job site or around town but....
On your first question: Depends on what time of year.
If in the winter, I.e. really cold where everyone has windows closed, then ya, no big deal.
Whereas in summer, I.e. warmer when AC would be otherwise running, but now windows are open, could be a big deal.
As in, "we're keeping our fridge alive and have fans running, so suck on that!"

Some people hve nothing to do with their lives than calling the DOB to complain.
I had a get together and we shouldnt have an outdoor "party" past 9pm. 9:20pm, we had cops knocking on the door due to noise complaints.
Love the neighborhood. HATE a few of the neighbors.

I need to get one still wondering which one to get
Thanks
Edit I noticed Wal-Mart one has no wheel kit also
Electric start is nice if its having trouble starting. much easier to get going, but you will prob have to jump it from a car or something, unless you kept the battery charged up right along since the last time you used it.

Noise ordinance in my city doesn't start till 10 PM. It's rare that I need to crank the impact driver outside that late at night, but it is handy.

I would use it for my well, and pumps though, or buy an invertor generator with lower THD values for peace of mind & better compatibility.
