Haven't decided about garden but definitely planting tomatoes and zucchini.

For those of you who don't shop CVS on the regular right now, there's clearance 75 - 90% off.

It's also windy at times
So getting plants in the ground/raised bed/container can be tricky. The wind can snap them, dry them out and I've made "cozies" out of plastic juice bottles. But if it gets very hot, they can cook inside of that . Attached pic shows a couple of cozies, when on top of my dwarf blood orange, They protected the top fruit from frost damage.
Plus, my only sunny window for seedlings faces east, where there's no direct sun past sunrise. They get very leggy, which makes them MORE susceptible to wind breakage.
This year, I tried putting them in tp/pt tubes when still very little.
So very redneck (other attached pic).
I sprout seeds using Baggie Method, then put them into nested yogurt containers (thanks Safeway). The inside one has holes poked in the bottom, the outer one holds water that can wick up rather than risk damaging tiny plant by watering from the top.
We used to get freebie yo w/ "add ins" in a domed top. Those are greenhouse lids for baby pepper plants - esp. helpful at night, since we can dip into the 40s & peppers like heat
I plan to put nursery plants in the ground next week, including the zucchini MIL found for me since I couldn't find them here (she paid $4!!). The only squash I got to germinate from seed was scallop squash.
What happened to the days when zukes would grow in sidewalk cracks, and put out so much fruit, someone had to invent Zucchini Bread?
The pepper seed germinated like crazy, saved from organic mini peppers from Nob Hill (local supermarket chain Raleys).
Grew Sweet 100 cherry tomatoes last year, also from Nob Hill's plants out front of the store, and got a jungle from 2 leftover plants I didn't have containers for and just threw in the ground near a faucet. Now a tiny forest is in the un-amended ground where they took off last year. Since they're hybrid, I don't know if the fruit will be viable. and with CA drought/probable water restrictions, not sure if I'll give them the chance. I can't find other cherry tomato plants. Snagged full size tomatoes I found last month at Nob Hill including one heirloom "red yellow" (I think it's a Mr. Stripey- a lesser version of my favorite Marvel Striped). I also grabbed a Sugar Baby watermelon - not sure how smart THAT is in drought. Found one cuke - japanese - that's supposed to be like hothouse. Had to pot it up but it still looks unhappy, with dying & yellow leaves. Hoping going to ground will fix it.
The plants I got from that grocery store last year far outperformed those from Home Depot and local hardware/nursery OSH. The HOme Depot burned down [yahoo.com] so I won't be going back anyway.
The community yard sale this year starts in a couple of hours, we have around 90 homes in it this year so I'm hoping we get lots of customers since we advertised just how big it will be. The forecast has been cranky for days but looks to be maybe OK for the sale now. This year I organized a donation truck to come to our clubhouse after to take leftovers. I hope they have a lot of success! I hope we all do!

Oh, and the weather mostly held out, no rains until after 10 am (when business is dying don anyway) and the sporadic after 10am.

Next week (6/12- 6/18), CVS has a gift card deal where you get a $10 ecb wyb certain gift cards. One of the gift cards included is Wayfair. While it's limit one ecb per card, I have access to more than one card and could do the deal multiple times.
We're looking at several things on Wayfair right now and will likely spend $300+ in the next month or two. I am trying to figure out how many gift cards you can use on the Wayfair website at one time. Does anyone know?
In addition, are there any reasons I would not want to use gift cards on something I buy on Wayfair? I know using my credit card provides some reassurance if something is wrong with what I buy - and I'll plan to leave enough to pay something on my credit card - but are there any other issues anyone has had with using gift cards?
P.S. I will only get the gc's at CVS if we're 100% certain we are buying from Wayfair.
TIA for your feedback!
