Even after one year my table top looked like it just came in.
You can watch a few YouTube videos if you want to see how to execute.
I used my garage, you should use some open area like a garage, but make sure it's not very dusty.
I borrowed saw horse from my friend, otherwise you can get two saw horses the foldable one from HD or Lowes.
Now, first step.
Use 150 grid sand paper to sand.
The butcher block comes one side with few imperfections and one side smooth. Use the sand paper to sand both sides to remove any small scratches, dents and other imperfections. I did good amount of sanding to make it really smooth. Though the butcher block comes in very good condition.
Note: as soon as you remove the packaging make sure to start working on it like staining and sealing within 48 hours. Because it comes sealed and if just keep it outside, then the wood will absorb all the surrounding moisture and may wraps.
1. Apply pre-stain wood conditioner. This may seems optional but, it's really help stain to spread and stick to the wood evenly.
I used this from Lowes you can go to Lowes and HD doesn't really matter and can pick any brand.
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Minwax-8.../999913771
2. Then, you can use stain color based on how dark, or light or natural wood color you want.
I used the below oil based stain.
But, I guess I select walnut color.
You can use brush, but I use the old rag clothes.
Basically you can use any cloth old cotton tees usually perfect which are lint free.
Also you just apply two to three coats.
Allow three to four hours to dry between the coats.
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Minwax-W.../999914241
3. Then, finally seal the butcher block that's very, very important.
Since I went with a bit of a shiny and glossy look I used semi-gloss polyurethane.
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Minwax-3.../999913667
You don't have to get a gallon size, just small size cans are enough.
I applied three coats of polyurethane.
I used fast dry so I don't have to wait long before applying the next coat.
Finally I kept it in the garage for 24 hours so that all the oil based stain and polyurethane smell will go away.
All the products are for your reference you can use any brand from HD and Lowe's
I used Minwax brand
Hope this helps.
At the same time I ordered Acacia 60"x30" butcher block from Lowes.
I spend two days for preparing butcher block by staining, sealing and finally used semi-gloss poly and it turned perfect, then assemble this desk with top butcher block.
Since that day onwards, I have received so many compliments and requests from family and friends to make one of them. Total cost $250+$165+$30 = $450 I have perfect size sit-stand workstation which I have been using day in day out. I usually adjust two to three times a day typically. The dual motor is very smooth and very silent. Set up with three different memory at different hights.
For this price its a steal.
Because I have seen the size and daul motor sit-stand desk cost anywhere from $800-$1200 which I have currently now.

When this popped up... $199 sounded like a decent price for a double motor frame... but yeah that weight limit bothered me a bit, will have to be careful I guess with how I load it. That said, I checked uplift when this was first posted for a price comparison... their standard desk frame is now $600!!! I assume it is a bit heftier, but not worth 3 times the money?? After seeing that, and recalling the last SD for a decent one of these went quick... I jumped.
Now time to see if this predrilled Uplift top will line up or if I have to drill more holes (nbd, but I don't want to put more holes into a $600+ desktop if I don't have to), see if this 176lb rating is just playing it safe or if that is the real limit before bad things happen or what.
Regarding the screw holes lining up on the Uplift top: I am using this frame with an Uplift bamboo top I got off Buy Nothing (cosmetic damage in shipping but Uplift replaced and told the purchaser not to bother sending the damaged one back). Screw holes do not line up perfectly so I lined up one hole and predrilled the rest. The height control module also does not line up at all. If you don't mind drilling new holes, this frame works like a charm.
I think the desktop is 60" if that matters. I forget what the weight limit is but this is a hefty top and the frame lifts/lowers like a champ.

Without a top, the maximum weight capacity is 176 lbs. And this frame is supposed to be dual motor? Something is very wrong here.
I feel like the Monoprice page may have a typo, but I can't be sure. That seems a bit low for a dual-motor desk. I got the Autonomous dual-motor desk from Walmart online for $115 (price mistake), and it's 275 lbs max capacity. I've got a 70lb butcher block, a ~50lb PC, a 27in monitor, and 40lbs of studio monitor speakers, and it doesn't struggle in the slightest. This looks nearly identical to mine, except for the control panel. From what I've read there are only 2-3 companies that manufacture the good quality standing desks for other companies (neither Autonomous, nor Monoprice manufacturer these desks). The cheap no-name ones on Amazon, etc are a different story. Avoid those like the plague.

I bought the uplift L shaped frame with 3 motors. It's been sitting in the garage (with my truck parked outside for longer than it's ever been) for a few months while I wait to sand and finish the two 2" thick walnut tops i glued up. I can tell you that the uplift legs are heavy, they feel 15lbs easy but I can weigh one if you're interested. They feel very heavy duty and I don't feel like I overpaid currently.
I went uplift because I had heard on SD and Reddit about monoprice motors and other brands giving out. I can tell you i spent 1k on the L shaped frame with quite a few accessories during their St Patrick's day sale and $10 per board foot (maybe $500 total, really $750 but I bought way too much) on the walnut top, plus many tools I didn't have but wanted anyways just to do it. I can't recommend uplift yet but I did a decent amount of research and they were the only ones with a frame that would fit my WFH office.
Sure buddy no issues.

$369 shipping included and has a built-in slot for holding my tablet and phone as well as cable management, pretty interesting idea and worked out pretty well for me
i also bought a frame from them previously for under $200
cant comment on the monoprice one, but at least these 3-tiered frames provide more range than the 3 other Autonomous frames that I've got in my office
trying to stick with the same look and 3-tiered frame going forward for all new employees at my office.
grab a Karlby, and done.
Height Adjustment Range 24.4" ~ 47.2"

No fancy preset heights but also no motors to fail and I really don't change the height.
Another solid alternative if your worried about weight limits is a fixed height workbench from HD, Lowes, or Sam's. You can always get a tall ergo stool if you need to sit.

I did almost the same, but used a 1 3/4" thick red oak butcher block from Menards which cost $100. Very beefy and heavy but no problem for this monoprice thing. Didn't stain it, just went over the edges with a 1/4" rounded router bit, then thorough sanding and 5 coats of polyurethane.
Loving the result and highly recommend it for anyone who is up for an easy project.
That said what homedepot butcher block are folks using?
Lowes link is not working. Can you please give better link or the description to check. Thanks for doing this
