I tried using it but somehow it won't allow me to pay with Amazon balance. It allowed me to select just 1 point to be eligible for the discount but remaining amount was getting charged to Disc CC. Not sure if I had to do something differently.

Weirdly, always opposite for me. I get every Discover card promotion, and no love ever from American Express. I think the latter is especially persnickety and has a naughty-or-nice (profitable or not) list.
