Looks like a quality, branded laptop sleeve at a price similar to unbranded ones.

1. When TSA says laptops are to be taken outside of the backpacks, does it also mean they need to be taken out of sleeves such as these?

2. Would it also fit MacBook Pro 14"?

1) Yes, As long as there is nothing else in the sleeve they will let you keep it in.

2) No, Here are the maximum dimensions: 13" (l) x 1.1" (w) x 9.1" (h)

bought one Galaxy color. this brand is good quality and last longer.. for $10 no 2nd thought to buy..

I have one that last for several years.. this cover is always inside of a backback/cabin bag etc.. so wear/tear will be less than a regular backpack.. just fyi.

1. Depends on the airport
I just took a trip and one way said "yes" while the other said "take it out"

Serious question: what protective value does these sleeves add? In my experience Apple aluminum shells resists scratch just fine and if you drop them these products won't protect it either.

Protecting from scratches is nice....but it is the protection from impacts that these cases are really for.
Will the laptop survive a fall onto concrete in this case? Not sure.
But this case will keep from shattering the screen if a student drops his backpack a little too hard.
It will keep the laptop/tablet from getting damaged if somebody bumps into the bag on a trip.
Or maybe you commute with your work PC daily and are concerned it might be getting bumped a little too often.......and a million other little possible cases.

A perfect example...why do people put cases on their cell phones when that same grade aluminum is on that phone? To reduce scratches?...sure...but that is not the only reason.

Thanks! I had only thought there was an anti-scratch benefit to Laptop sleeves (plus, a little more grip, compared to the glossy aluminum surface of a MacBook).

My $0.02: I really doubt how much shock a non-rigid sleeve can absorb - Unlike a hard-case for a Phone, laptops are heavier, their screens are more fragile and a fabric/PU sleeve doesn't compare to a rigid & rubberized Spigen / Otterbox case. The little amount of shock absorbency it may provide over dropping a naked laptop maybe too little to make a signifiant impact (especially on the edges).

If someone is looking for shock absorbency specifically, I think they should go for cases like Thule: https://slickdeals.net/f/15778162 (Deal dead)
