This projector is primarily focused for gaming, having one of the lowest latency's of any 4k projector on the market as listed in the OP's title. The LG at its best has a input lag around 45ms-55ms depending on resolution.
This projector is both good for bright living rooms as well as dedicated theater rooms, the LG primarily will only be good in a dedicated light controlled room cause of the low lumens.
This projector has 3-D the LG does not, both have HDR, both do no have HLG.
The other major difference this uses a standard light engine so lamps that need to be replaced depending on usage/settings (4000/8000 all the way to 15000 hours), while the LG wont need one the whole time you have it. If you use the different eco mods on the Benq you might not ever need one with it either.
Cool feature of the Benq it has a little compartment with a 3rd HDMI so you can plug in and power any type of HDMI video stick/fire stick/roku/whatever else you got and it also has a power port there too. Originally made for their own media stick but it will work with any.
Hardware wise this also comes with HDMI 2.0b and HDCP 2.2 and HDMI eARC.
In short this projector is a great projector for anyone whos not sure what to get but know they will be gaming a lot. Out of the box it has good picture but it could use calibration to make it a great picture for those who actually are cinema types. Also wanted to add this is considered a standard long throw projector, not a short throw like the TK700STi, around 9 feet back to get a 100" screen to put it into perspective for people wondering.
IT can do 4k/60hz, 1080p/120hz (for gaming consoles) or 1080p/240hz (for pc)...this is the limitation of HDMI 2.0b and the DLP chip itself. The 0.47" DLP chip currently used in all of these "budget" 4k DLPs doesnt support HDMI 2.1 quite yet, they are trying to come out with a new DLP chip to support HDMI 2.1 but it looks like next year or 2024 even before that ever comes to fruition. Projectors always lag behind the tv market in things like this so shouldn't be surprising. That being said, dont avoid it because it doesnt have HDMI 2.1 - 4k/120 because your console isnt really doing that anyways. You'll be gaming at 4k/60 or 1080p/120 on a console.
The biggest drawback to this projector is no vertical or horizontal lens shift. Which means you need to be perfect setting it up in the right place otherwise you might need to use keystone correction and if you have to use keystone correction you cant use the projectors "fast" mode in gaming which cuts input lag in half, so be aware of that...it is NOT easy to setup a projector perfectly with no lens shift at all, this also has a 110% offset vertical, which means if mounting on ceiling it needs to be ABOVE the projector screen.
Also last thing to keep in mind is this is a gaming focused projector, so if you mostly watch sports/movies other things and do a little to no gaming, you'd be better off with a home theater focused projector rather than a gaming projector for more accurate colors.
The only special mode is their FPS mode, it turns off all post processing to lower the latency to the below input lag.
4K/60: 16.67ms | 1080p/60: 16.67ms | 1080p/120: 8.33ms | 1080p/240: 4ms (last 2 from PC source only I believe)
Whats so funny, if you think thats not good, you dont know anything about projectors? That is one of the fastest input lags for a projector especially in 4k.

If you're trying to play games like CS:GO, or Warzone, you probably don't want this, but if your'e rocking Red dead on single player, or Horizon, you'll enjoy it.

I have played warzone on even slower projectors without any major issue as high as 50m/s. This being at 16 m/s would be unnoticeable to anyone besides those trying to *flex*.
Already out the X3000i but its currently $2000 and thats what I am waiting on to go on sale.
I'm well aware of the X3000i's excellent performance, limitations, price and limited availability. You're dreaming if you think it will go on sale any time in the next 2 years. Short of there being a complete economic collapse.
This unit is on sale because while it is new, it doesn't really bring much new to the table.
I'm referring to new models coming later '22 and '23.
You might be waiting a while, at least on the 5050.
I bought a 5050 refurb early last year for $2100 and the price has only gone up since then from what I've seen (if you can even find one in stock).
Keep dreaming buddy. Only projectors I know that do 4K120 are the new Epson LS12000 and LS11000. Even the new Sony's don't do 4K120.
It will be on sale by the end of the year without a doubt.I seen brand new projectors from optoma and epson go on sale within 3 months of release so this not going on sale for 2 years lol, very doubtful.
Are pixel defects with 4k DLP projectors an issue? That's a lot of micro mirrors that have to be working there.
No not very common but it can happen if you dont clean your projector if they have filters and if you dont ventilate them properly. Any other pixel issue is a bad chip but chances of getting a bad chip aka bad projector direct from the factory very slim.
I have an epson 2150 1080p in a control lite room. Is the jump from the 2150 to the Benq really a big jump in visual quality and playing games? I am pretty sure it is but as the Benq has the faux 4k but can you really notice the difference n games? Just curious what you guys think - thanks
