I'm a fan of refurb old tech. This is an... ok deal. It's a good/great deal at $199, but $299 is tough. The cpu goes for $100 on eBay, but the i7 8th gen vs an i5 (significantly cheaper) doesn't quite matter in 2024. For Plex transcoding, as an example, the i3 can even transcode 4k.
So, I think a more modern system would be a better deal.
That p2000 is something of a wild card I wasn't expecting. For CAD or video this could actually be a good budget machine? For gaming, you're too far out of date for new games.
As a plex or Yuzu machine, this is good, but I still think over priced.

Dell "refurbished" now means "heavily used". They wipe off the crumbs, do a quick power test, and toss them out the door. There's absolutely zero actual "refurbishment" going on with these units. They clearly do not test every feature.

Not in my experience,. Our business has bought several computers from the refurb store for temp remote servers, which we check out when they come in. Mobos are cleaned, new thermal pastes, fans cleaned, new HDD. We have generally been impressed when ordering from there. For people who know exacty what they need from these machines, its a great deal

The included P2000 video card provides great connectivity, especially if you're needing multi-monitor support for your productivity setup. The other good news is that the Pascal-series based GPU driver is still supported[endoflife.date], making it a functional choice for Windows 10, Windows 11, and even some applications which might be appropriate for a GPU like this (some eSports games, for example).
However, the real watch item for me have been the comparable (but newer) Turing-based professional graphics cards coming into PCs in this price range. The T1000 is no graphics powerhouse, but it does have plenty of advanced features including all the modern encoding/transcoding and super resolution features I'm hopeful to start playing with in the context of a budget setup.
There is definitely a good value to be found in this deal for some users, but there are different options at this price point which might make better sense for other buyers depending upon their needs (such as a refurbished commodity desktop system with a much more modern CPU, but perhaps lacking dedicated graphics).
P2000 is good if you need Cuda cores for something. I use a P620 and memory is too limited for some ML models. For anything like Plex the iGPU is better. Sounds like an okay deal to me considering it's more capable than something like a N95 but at higher power consumption. I think these cases have space for at least 3 3.5" drives (that's how many I run) but they do require Dell rails. They used to be about $6 on eBay but no idea at this time.

Just for some context I am using a p2000 in a machine and on mid level settings I'm getting about 150 fps on fortnite. Is that the newest game no, does it prove that it will work with the newest game, no... But just want to be sure that people know the card will function for most games as long as you understand that's not it's intent and will take some fine-tuning of each game settings to function properly.
Hard to say now that mini pcs are half the price with more modern features and a fraction of the power draw and a modern system is just a little bit more.
This is a pretty good productivity and light gaming machine. The Quadro P2000 is much better than the iGPU and is the rough equivalent of the GTX 1050ti. The PSU in these also includes a 6+2 & 6 pin power connector for putting in an even more powerful GPU if you want that.

A mini PC with a 780m is going to be about the same in GPU performance, but those are more like double the price if you include RAM, storage, and a real (not gray market) Windows license. You will get better overall performance with the much newer CPU.

I have 4-32" 4k monitors attached to this Quadro/system for trading. It works great for low-refresh applications (non-gaming), and the system is very responsive.
The only downside is the size of the box, it's a big big.

If you are a tweaker, you may get a better deal on Ebay if you are patient.
