Does it have a yearly fee?
No AF on that card. Skimpy sign up bonus ($200 I think) and I have no idea what their rates are but I've used the cell phone insurance once and they made good on it.
New customers but you might be able to apply for one of their other cards separately and get a second bonus. That's what I did.
From the Capital One website:
Cover Your Travel Purchases
Redeem your Venture miles on anything from hotel stays to unforgettable travel experiences with friends and family. You can redeem miles to cover the cost of any travel purchase made with your Venture card within 90 days of the purchase. With enough miles, you could essentially "erase" travel purchases from your most recent trip!
Purchases made from airlines, hotels, rail lines, car rental agencies, limousine services, bus lines, cruise lines, taxi cabs, travel agents and time shares are generally considered to be travel purchases, and availability for redemption is based on the merchant category code assigned to them by the merchant. Capital One is not responsible for how merchants assign these codes.
Do you know if Uber/lyft counts as travel?
but they clearly mention that " Capital One is not responsible for how merchants assign these codes."

You spend $4000 in 3 months (with some $750 as airline ticket or hotel or car rental)
you will get 75000 bonus miles
Using cover your travel purchases option, example you booked a flight ticket for $750, you can redeem your 75000 miles to $750 as statement credit.
Incase if you dont have any valid airline ticket / hotel / rental within past 90 days, and if you decide to convert 75000 miles into statement credit, you will get only 750/2=$375 as statement credit.

Also can I buy air tickets from any source (airline or intermediary like say kayak) using the card for the purchase to get full $750? Or am i restricted to capitalone's travel site?

I'm not sure about the theme parks tickets but for the second part of your question... yes, you can purchase tickets through any site using your Cap1 card and then get full value reimbursement as a statement credit. In fact, it's slightly preferred to do that because you'll earn a few more points when you buy those tickets.

1) theme park tickets mostly coded as entertainment (however in above link, they mention that theme park tickets purchases in 3rd party site might be coded as travel)
2) it seems kayak and other airline agencies will be covered, but i recommend either you book from airline website directly or book thru capital one travel portal (booking thru portal will get extra miles - i think 10x may be) and you can cover/redeem this purchase for 1:1 statement credit

I did the pre-approval but did not receive any credit card offers with bonus. I'm 2/24, 0/12 with 3+ years of credit history. Also no hard inquiries in the past 12 months.
