Most premium 1st party cards (ie not cobranded by a hotel or airline or something) will overnight or 2-day ship a new card at your request.

Amex most broadly gives you instant # but there's a number of others who offer a way to use the card instantly (often via app or mobile wallet)

https://upgradedpoints.com/credit...-approval/

Wells Fargo active cash card is still the best card IMHO, $200 cash reward when spending the first $500 and 2% on everything, no restrictions. And the reward is cold hard cash! Their customer service is great and they will overnight a card when yours get stolen/lost.

No matter whatever card you get from them, Cap One is wasted credit inquiries. They like to pull ALL three bureaus. Most other cards only pull one. Nothing Cap One offers is worth 3 inquires on your reports.

Inquiries don't mean anything unless you're about to buy a car or house.

If you travel then cashback cards are generally poor reward value (for example Amex BBP gives you 2x MR points on everything and those points are worth more than 1 cent each for travel transfers to partners-- and many other amex, citi, and chase cards offer 3-5x points on various categories increasing the reward value even higher above 2% cash).

Even for people who never travel, if you can get Plat honors status at BoA you're going to do a lot better than 2% cash--- with just one card you can get 2.625% cash on everything... if willing to have a couple more cards you can also get 3.5% cash on a couple categories and 5.25% cash on a couple more specific categories.

If you CAN NOT get BoA status AND you never travel, then yeah a 2% card for non-category is the best you'll do without hoops to jump through.... but you're still going to want to have at least one or two category specific cards for whatever couple categories you spend the most on (groceries, gas, restaurants, etc) as you can typically get 3-5% back there with other cards.

This is my primary card. Never had an issue redeeming miles either through their portal or applying them retroactively to a flight purchased directly with an airline or travel agency (believe it will find airline charges automatically within 90 days of purchase). You can also just apply the miles towards your statement balance if you don't travel much.

Best travel perk is the free Global Entry/TSA precheck that saves quite a bit of time depending on the airports you frequent.

The Capitol One lounges are only $65 without a card FWIW, and the only one is currently in Terminal D at DFW. Just went last week, was pretty nice. On par with AA's Admirals Club and the like, will be a much better travel perk whenever they finally get around to putting them in more airports.

Aside from that Capitol One's Eno virtual card service is pretty nice and I wish everybody offered something similar.
never paid out of pocket for a lounge and $65 seems on the high side. Curious what made it worth the cost for you?

Sure as long as you can pay your mortgage or car payment with a credit card. I pay my homeowners insurance with a CC when I'm spending for bonuses but some insurance companies now want to charge a CC fee for that.

There's nothing in the Capitol One lounge other's don't already offer, but I'm willing to pay more for exclusivity. I was finding the cheaper, more accessible lounges at busy airports were turning into zoos when I just wanted a snack and some quiet to get some work done/rest. That being said, I think Capitol One is ending the lounge access on the standard Venture (still unlimited for Venture X) as of Jan 1, 2025, but are moving to a $45 entry fee for cardholders ($90 for the public) which I think is more competitive with other lounge offerings from domestic airlines.

With a $300 annual travel credit and $395 in fees, this is easily one of the best cards on the market if you can use the benefits
That's the Venture X card.

and I agree VX is one of the best cards of all. Too bad you have to use the portal nowadays to redeem $300 travel credit but it's still reasonable. X pays for itself easily--not sure about this one.

I really hope CAP1 includes more transfer partners like Hyatt and Hilton for hotels!

One nice feature I should add was a surprise to me was a flight I booked with the recent $300 credit that was being included, they credited me $50 and were monitoring it for a week if it dropped.
