Bigger bonuses. Then once it's time to renew, you downgrade to a no annual fee card.

No matter whatever card you get from them, Cap One is wasted credit inquiries. They like to pull ALL three bureaus. Most other cards only pull one. Nothing Cap One offers is worth 3 inquires on your reports.
Cancel after one year. So effectively a $650 bonus.

oh bad.
i have seen posts with people who has great 800+ score and denied for venture X
I read many such denials in doctor of credit blogs (they denied their own customer who has capital one 360 checking a/c for many years)
My score was same as yours and approved (I tried to do pre-approval) and it gave me an option to apply for venture (not venture X)
you could call them and see the reason for denial.
Check doctor of credit blog. you may find something useful.
"As a Venture X cardholder, you are eligible for a complimentary Priority Pass membership as part of your Visa Infinite® benefits. Priority Pass provides free, unlimited access to participating airport lounges worldwide."
Had the Venture X for a little over a year now and highly recommend it to friends and family.
Received a $300 travel credit last year and this year which were very easy to use. The Capital One Travel site is powered by Hopper if you've ever used this travel site before.
Received 10,000 points a few weeks after my anniversary date (along with the $395 fee).
Card pairs well with the SavorOne and the American Express Gold Card for those looking to create combinations that quickly build up miles / points for transfer to travel partners.
Recently applied for Global Entry renewal and awaiting the TSA charge for the $100 credit. Government is delayed by 6-9 months for reviews and appointments at the moment.
The only real negative I have is the lack of lounges. The Priority Pass lounge network at the airports I frequent is lackluster. The perk that included PP restaurants and spas in our first year of card ownership was nerfed in January of this year which added even more salt to the wound. To be truly competitive with "premium" credit cards that cost above $395 annually, Capital One will need to expand their lounge access.
When you say lackluster, you just meant the inside of the lounge or its food/drink offerings? You were still able to get in one (was JFK or SFO one of them)?

Priority pass is a network of lounges owned by tons of different people, so there's no consistent experience across them like with say Centurion lounges.
Some are quite good (Turkish Air in DC for example) and some are... quite mediocre....
I mean, free stuff is still better than none, but it's a pretty wide variance. Plus the better ones often restrict access to PP members to only certain hours, or PP are the first to be excluded when they're full.
At JFK the crown jewel is the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse... but only if you can access Terminal 4, and only from 8AM-1:30PM... Also in T4 is Air India which is...very underwhelming...
Outside of that you've got KAL, Lufthansa, and Air France lounges in Terminal 1 if you can get in there.... but KAL is 8:30-noon only and meh... Lufthansa is decent but unavailable to PP holders 13:00 - 17:00 & 21:30 - 01:00, or when over capacity.... Air France actually decent hours- 9:45am to 11:30pm but again offerings are pretty meh.
The only really worthwhile thing is in T8-- and only if you have a PP membership that includes restaurants (Chase and Citis premium cards do) because you get $56 for two at a halfway decent steakhouse.
Over at SFO most of your options are again restaurants so you need that benefit to use em... (Terminal 2 has one, Terminal 3 has two, and Terminal G has one)
Only actual lounges are Terminal A and one is China Air and one is a combined KLM/Air France.... Never been to China Air one and can't even find a post-covid review of it... pre-covid were...not great? The KLM/AF one is in a tiny temp space until a new one opens in fall- supposedly food/wine is decent here but it's packed into a small space and they lock out PP members when otherwise full like 90% of the day
I've had this card for awhile. Even gave their Venture X a spin. Be warned that if you have a situation where you need a card replacement they are the worst. They would not expedite the card (even though Chase and AMEX both expedite globally). They also, despite very clear instructions and agreeing to send it to my current address overseas, decided to send the replacement slowly to my billing address in the US. With service like this, you're better off giving your money to a competitor.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I did read that PP is first to be restricted. I had been checking each lounge's operating hours based on when we'll be there since that alone can narrow it down. I would have to add a minor for authorize account so the hard pull won't affect my wife's since PP only allows 2 max per member. First hurdle is that I just got the card, activated, but Priority pass says "We are unable to locate that card number in the Priority Pass program" hopefully it'll work later.
Edit: Looks like 1 to 2 weeks after receiving card... cutting it close...
"As a Venture X cardholder, you're eligible to enroll for a complimentary Priority Pass membership 1 to 2 weeks after receiving your Capital One Venture X card."
And then another week to get physical card, unless approved for digital membership... right?

If you travel, venture x is better. You get $300 per annum towards travel, $100 points per year for free and 75k joining. With the points and credit venture x is free.

This is a mis-leading statement. All Credit inquiries within 30 days only affect your credit once.

That 300 is hard to use, as flights via Google Flights show half of what Capital One portak does. Am I missing something ?
yes
you will have virtual credit card instantly
however, you might need to do additional verification (i had to call them and upload my driving license) to use my virtual card
their shipping sucks.
they cannot expedite shipping (i spoke to 3 diffferent customer care rep).
it seems, they have expedite shipping available only for existing users who requests for new replacement card (lost/stolen cases)
I never got the virtual card ? Real card has shipped BUT virtual card still is not available

You are misunderstanding how this works.
EACH credit bureau has its own score for you.
Normally a credit card company only pulls one report from one bureau-- so only THAT score is impacted by a new card... and since different banks use different bureaus you can spread this around a bit when opening multiple cards.
But Cap one pulls ALL THREE- thus impacting 3 scores at once instead of 1 like everyone else.

virtual card is something, you will see in your capital one mobile app.
did you check?
(note: 2 CSR told, I cannot use/activate virtual card, until I have real card is in my hand).
But 3rd CSR said that virtual card can be used before real card is activated (and I did the same).
