Freedom unlimited has 15 months 0 apr with a 100% cash back first year welcome offer. So if you spend $40,000 in the first year with just the 1.5% cash back and don't use any of the bonus categories you will earn $600 in cash back and another $600 in matches cash back. Its can be done in less than $40000 since you also get 3% cash back on dining and 5% cash back on travel through chase.

If you had 40k to spend you could do massively better than $1200 in total rewards by just doing multiple signup offers.

yes, but venture X also has a $300 travel credit and an annual 10k point anniversary bonus (worth $100)- so the Venture X is actually profitable above the fee in addition to being a better card otherwise.

Are the travel insurance only book through their portal or just use the card with the airlines? Also do they have any plan to cut lounges in 2024 like Amex?

Travel insurance is a card benefit - not tied to the portal. No idea about cutting lounge access. If they do then I won't have as much reason to keep this card. I have 4 authorized users on my card and the lounge access is a big attraction for us.

Capital one is adding their own lounges so far available on 3 airports, and it allows 2 additional guest for lounge access as well as only card that gives out free addon cards.

There is an additional Travel insurance for booking on their portal. Without insurance benefits kicks in at 6 hours flight delay but with their insurance it kicks in at 3 hours delay and during busy travel and flying unreliable carriers its really useful.

Good info! Are there any other benefits to using the Cap 1 site to book? I'm an infrequent traveler (so far) but will be going to Oaxaca in Feb and afaict, the prices are the same thru Cap 1 vs other sites. Also, my connection is in DFW so I'll have a lounge to check out. I don't understand the flight pre-check benefits yet but I'll look into them.

Bigger bonuses. Then once it's time to renew, you downgrade to a no annual fee card.
Keep in mind that unlike other card issuers, Capital One will not refund your annual fee once it's posted, even if you call to downgrade your card. Chase and other issuers allow you 30-60 days after the fee posts to downgrade ("product change") and get your annual fee back. If you plan on downgrading this card, you may want to set a reminder for yourself for 11 months after you open it, because once the annual fee hits, it's not going away.

How to do this through referral for 90K miles (Venture and not Venture X)? I want to refer someone else.

It shows 75K and not 90K.

Your friend thinks you'll love a Capital One Venture Rewards card.

Anyone who currently has a card can refer someone else. This thread is being clogged with posters wanting to refer someone so they'll get extra points themselves. Slickdeals doesn't allow this type of spamming but it seems the admins are being overwhelmed by spammers so we see all of these posts offering referral links. Shame.

I want to refer someone in my family circle. But, the referral link states 75K miles not 90K miles for Venture.
