Bigger bonuses. Then once it's time to renew, you downgrade to a no annual fee card.

No matter whatever card you get from them, Cap One is wasted credit inquiries. They like to pull ALL three bureaus. Most other cards only pull one. Nothing Cap One offers is worth 3 inquires on your reports.
Cancel after one year. So effectively a $650 bonus.
Show me a no annual fee card with a ~$650 bonus... I'll wait.

I will suggest to get a referral in your circle that way you both will benefit with the offer. I did the same.
75,000 miles can be used to pay for $750 travel cost booked from Capitalone. FYI, they do price match also on travel cost.
Keep in mind that unlike other card issuers, Capital One will not refund your annual fee once it's posted, even if you call to downgrade your card. Chase and other issuers allow you 30-60 days after the fee posts to downgrade ("product change") and get your annual fee back. If you plan on downgrading this card, you may want to set a reminder for yourself for 11 months after you open it, because once the annual fee hits, it's not going away.
Not true. My fee hit on Nov 18th. A few days ago I closed my account online and a day later the fee was removed.
Yes, there is a "pay yourself back" for travel expenses and it's redeemed at 1% so 75k miles would be $750.
I did accidentally find out that if you do that and then cancel the expense (for example a refundable Airbnb rental), the credit goes back on your account so you've effectively converted the miles to cash at 1%.

If you cancel the card within a certain period after fee posts (either 30 or 40 days, I think), the fee is refunded. I did that earlier this year. It may be different if you want to downgrade the card.

For those who will be keeping this card long-term, lounge access will be eliminated in 2025. Here is the official word:
"Effective January 1, 2025, Venture and Spark Miles cardholders will no longer receive complimentary lounge access. You will have 2 complimentary visits to Capital One Lounges or Plaza Premium Lounges to use by December 31, 2024. Venture and Spark Miles cardholders can access Capital One Lounges at a special rate of $45 for themselves and their guests."

Yet another reason this thing kinda sucks compared to the Venture X

Good for you but that wasn't my experience or what I later read on credit card / travel blogs. YMMV I guess
Interesting. Wallethub says the opposite. I guess it is a YMMV thing and depends on the agent you speak with

If you don't have travel charges, you can still redeem for cash, but the value is cut in half.
