Capital One is offering a 75,000 mile bonus after you spend $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening with the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card. There is $95 annual fee.

So I've had the Capital One Venture card and got the bonus 5 years ago. I've kept it because they waived the annual fee. If I cancel that card and wait a few months... technically I meet those timelines of not having the card and I haven't received a welcome bonus for 48 months.

Did they waive the AF for 5 years?

    Appears so. I think maybe because of the SCRA, but I did not request the fee to be waived.

    Yes, you can apply but Capital One does reject applications if a person has many credit cards. And yes, you can combine the points and use them which makes it more effective and profitable.

    I don't see why not, it works the other way around. I have the Venture and am getting the bonus for the C1 Spark Business as well. Venture X will be on my list once I decide I'll be traveling enough to make the AF worth it.

    You can redeem for miles, gift cards, statement credit or you could actually get a check mailed to you. You may find that you'll get the most value if you can use the points for miles.

    I want a card for better discounts on flights. Will someone ever acquire enough miles to offset the annual fee? When compared to a no annual fee card?

    basically, how long to beat even with the annual fee? how much to spend?

    Well the math shouldn't be hard to figure out. I spent the $4k to get the bonus on things I would have bought anyway so it really didn't cost me anything. After paying the AF of $95, I cleared $655 which I then applied to my airline ticket to Mexico. There was no extra discount to be had through partner airlines afaict so the $655 was all the discount I got but isn't that enough?
