All of my Fire TV devices (Cubes and Sticks) have developed horrible interface lag. I have restarted them and factory reset them to no avail. I replaced them on all my TVs with Google TV devices.

For some reason i can't get my firetv recast to load live channels on my cube. Tried everything possible. And when i connect the cube to ethernet via the included adapter the speeds are less than 50mbps. Connected via wifi I'm getting over 600mbps.

Well, the cubes ethernet adapter is maximum 100MBPS. Even 50 you shouldn't have a problem streaming/buffering. It doesn't hurt to stay going wireless though, getting 600mbps means you have a strong connection and will buffer faster. The ethernet adapter was really meant for extremely poor wifi coverage.

is your Recast on the same exact network as the Cube, and registered to the same exact account? What router are you using? Even a different "subnet" could cause problems with the cube seeing the Recast. For instance, if your Recast is hard-wired depending on the settings on your router, could be on a different subnet.

I'm thinking about doing the same, how do you like the Google devices?

I thought I was the only one having issues with my Fire TV stick, it was great for the 1st couple of months then nothing but lag and disconnects. Any web sleuths have a theory?

All my fire tv has been collecting dust ever since they disabled sideload feature and block streaming site. They force update and it's lagging now

Amazon just likes to give the bare minimum on their devices. A company with that much money being too cheap, but if people stopped buying some of their slow devices, they might change.

The Cube is not an upgrade to the Nvidia Shield. Other way around. Although the Cube is indeed an excellent device and right near the top of streaming devices.

I regret buying the 1st gen FireTV cube; it has been so laggy for so long, even after restart, and uninstalling almost every app - and that's on a network cable that pulls at least 300mbps

They've blocked nothing on mine and it's updated. I mostly use the Roku but you made me look. No issues what do ever. Latest firmware 4K Max. Use a VPN if you're currently not and downloader to get whatever apps ya want.
