If there is an issue, even with the normal warranty, they will simply analyze the laptop remotely and if issue can't be resolved, they will provide you shipping lable to ship it to their repair center.
I am just surprise that you don't know that. I mean, not just laptops, but almost every electronics gadgets' warranty works in this way only.

It seems highly unlikely that a new laptop would have the issues you are mentioning and if you truly didn't mess with it I don't see why Lenovo wouldn't take it in an do a quick diag. In fact they should be taking it in anyways to check it out and only then if they saw user error they would let you know its a $300 repair.
I've sent in numerous laptops to Lenovo and never had any issues even with issues that could possibly be user error. When it's quicker to do it myself I tell Lenovo support the part number I need whether it's a keyboard, screen or back panel they ship it very quick no questions asked.
