Both Ram and Storage are upgradable. You can go up to 64GB using two 32GB stick. However, it doesn't have additional storage slot. You need to replace the existing SSD for upgrading it.

Thanks for the suggestion. Seems like the screen on that is 250 nits and the USB-C doesn't do DisplayPort so I can't dock with it.
If you didn't want a 2 in 1, then this would be a better option. 300 Nits and Display port. https://www.costco.com/.product.100794677.html

250 nits is nothing...if you're in a bright room or slight light such as an open office, it'll be dark as hell

How does this compare with LG gram? With $250 Off and $150 shop card LG gram was $600+tax and this one is exact same price without shop card. LG is lighter but has i5 and this one has better CPU but I am looking for any other key comparison points to consider for general purposes student use. Appreciate inputs

LG Gram would have been a better deal if available. Deal might come again.

LG is lighter, better build quality and has Thunderbolt™3 but I would not buy without the $150 shop card.
HP has a better processor and touch screen

The integrated performance will be more or less same as that i5 is having the 80 EU based Iris Xe Graphics, not the 96 EU based one in Core i7. In Processor performance, it will be a slaughter for the Intel Processor. This 5825U can be 80% more powerful than that Intel in multi-threaded workloads while still being better power efficient.

Unless the 360° tablet mode is essential no reason to pay more. Virtually identical.

Do you need a 2-in-1 in the 1st place? If that is true then no point of comparing it with that model. Another thing, even for a 2-in-1, that Envy x360 in your example is not a good deal.
You are just looking at pure specs on paper, which is not what laptops are all about.
This is Pavillion vs Envy which is definitely a step up. Build quality "should" be better (But I have no experience with either Hp lines). The screen on the Envy is brighter as well. Envy is probably aluminum. Is this plastic or metal?

How is the Pavillion line in general?

No, I am not and have a very good idea I'm talking about. That Envy model he referred, is using the same panel, 250 nits touch with 60% sRGB. The higher end 400 nits 100% sRGB panel is only available from Hp site. I just mentioned if 2-in-1 is the main requirement, wait for the Ryzen 6000 and 12th gen Alder Lake P models to come out.
And to answers your question on Pavilion lineup, HP revamped the line since 2021, with metal lid and palm rest and slicker design. They are good value for money and used for general use.

Wait, so you are saying that the HP Envy sold at Costco, which has the same model number as listed on HP website as having 400 nits, has only 250 nits?
https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c07914620

Do you have any proof of that?

By the way, the Envy model noticeably had a brighter screen than the Pavillion model at the store.

For the money, the Pavillion model did seem pretty nice, better than Pavillions I have sen in the past, so I agree with you on that.

Nobody mentions the membership. Non-Member 5% Surcharge $40. Total price is $600. At the same time the total price for that Dell 5825U laptop (with free shipping and -10% coupon) is $529.

Because most people looking at laptops at Costco are members or have access to membership. BTW, as a side note, I can't remember the last time I had to pay for my membership. Because of the executive membership, the rebate check they give me every year always covers the membership cost and more every year.
