What I would do (if I were to get one) is do a deep/full scan with Seagate Sea Tools, and also check the health with CrystalDiskInfo (notice I wrote Info in the end, not Disk).

I've returned used, refurbed, (and I think even new) drives if they're not perfect.

Refurbished and hard drive. 3 words you never want to see in the same sentence.

How long are you going to live for?

(It's a similar question, in terms of one that nobody will be able to answer accurately).

"Portable" usually means 2.5" drives, which don't use standard SATA data and power cables to connect to the drives. They are usually soldered USB connectors. You can tell by the single (USB) cable connecting the drive to the laptop in the photos.

Are you not a native English speaker? The "and" isn't part of the three words, it's used to make the sentence proper. The three words are "refurbished", "hard" and "drive".

Much as I hate to start up the SMR vs CMR debate again Smilie

https://www.servethehome.com/wd-r...red-smr/2/

though possibly the SMR could be just fine for the average home user if used solely to store data.. or not, I honestly don't know so I'm sticking with CMR Smilie

It would be nice to know if the drive inside is actually a WD brand hard drive.. you would assume so right? But see
