All DeWalt battery operated tools are Max.

The Atomic is Max. The XR is Max. They're all Max.

Max* simply refers to them using the fully charged voltage (20v) as opposed to the operating voltage (18v) that other tool companies use.

Somewhere in the fine print it says:
* Maximum initial battery voltage (measured without a workload) is 20 volts. Nominal voltage is 18.

if you have two batteries, and keep one charging while using the rest, you can probably get through most home projects without a lot of stress or anger

Actually the 777 ones are also on sale at HD. The brushless kind.

It's not a not deal; they used to give full sized drills for this price; now people just don't care and want a tool to fill in a place holder; Home Depot's impact and drills are model number dcd709;dcf850 whilst lowes dcd777; and dcf840 are so old in reference to the atomic line that they are practically stealing your money

Best to find a new set of tools on market place or other vendors cause this is just a set to keep in the car or in the closet

This is a decent deal. I was waiting to buy one of these for a gift last fall and they never came up during black friday. If you have a full kit, this isn't a great deal, but if you're starting off and don't have any dewalt stuff, a brushless 1/2" chuck drill for 99 with some batteries is a decent deal.

I picked one up this morning, to use as a gift.

I got this set for $140 from Home Depot (it was posted here as a FP deal) -- is this a better set or should I purchase this one and return the 2 tools set? Here is the set: https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWAL.../318434498

This particular kit spent come up often yes but there's other ones that have been; hell there was just a impact and drill with (2) 1.7ah power stacks for $150 on price error a month ago

Just need to know what to look for

And those were much more modern design of dewalt

Is this recommended for automotive use? I'm very new to power tools so not sure if 1/2" is too big and I should wait on a 3/8"

Assuming you needed both tools, the $140 was a WAAAY better deal, in no small part because you got the pair of power stack batteries with them.

The linked tools are Atomics, not the same as what's in this deal. Though I'd probably opt for the Atomic versions to save weight/fatigue, all other things being equal 👍

I have the atomic drill and impact driver. Very happy with both of them. I was able to run several 6" screws in to header and 8x8 with no issues at all.

As a regular home owner, I prefer the smaller batteries. It's more than adequate to put together an ikea cabinet or 3. I have on a few occasions needed to run though all 4 of mg batteries, but these occasions are few and far in between.

I'm on Team Red but, I love the smaller capacity batteries for light demand tools. I use them in lights, drills, impact driver (small jobs), and the 3/8 impact. I actually bought a broken used drill for $20 just to get a pair of the little guys. Don't regret it at all.

Is that 1/4" going to be enough for home projects? Do I need special bits or can I use driver bits? Thank you
