Looks like a decent deal for a good price - probably not great quality - but what can you expect for 15 bucks

eventually a battery dies even if not used. the best emergency radios do not have traditional electric batteries. Now the beyjin if kept out of the sun which makes things brittle, if it's not getting submerged in water or subjected ot to rain, etc, then it will be running 50 years from now. And that is not the case with the radio in this thread.
Can you provide a link to the radio you recommend? TIA
Bc wtf you gonna do after you eat the hamster on data of emergencies... Think man, think
Now that's gonna be an interesting contract to read...
Sure. I don't know if it's being made right now, but they are available on ebay, mercuri maybe amazon too? I didn't check. This radio is made in south africa, for the entire continent of africa. Many people don't have power or batteries, but individuals and villages can get one or two of these babies
Here's what it's called and what it looks like:

Can I have one you don't use anymore?
The radio takes two AA batteries.

So it has a replaceable lithium ion battery, per the images. For a start, lithium ion batteries hold a charge for a reeeeeeally long time unless there is a drain on them. Second, they have hundreds of charge cycles. And third, they're quite common and easy to replace.
I doubt a spring-crank can offer to charge your phone.
It's only $15, too
Have you actually opened up that crank radio to check it won't rust and it doesn't have electrolytic capacitors that will dry out or leak, or speakers that will degrade with moisture? There's not actually a lot of electronics that will work without repairs after 50 years, even sitting in a box.
This. We're not talking about the old NiCad batteries here. Lithium Ion batteries last/hold their charge for ages when unused.
I've had wind up watches crap out on me in the past, btw 🤷 ♂️
With all due respect, because I've heard that "You don't mess around with Jim," it's not working for me, either.
